Monster Hunter Keeps on Climbing
Latest Japanese release approaching two million.

US, April 8, 2008 - Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G reached a million copies shipped last week over in Japan. But retailers apparently didn't cut off their orders right there. Today, Capcom announced that the game has crossed the 1.5 million shipped mark.

As with the original million figure, this new figure represents a record pace for the series, which has, as of February 8, now shipped a total of 6.8 million units since its original debut on the PlayStation 2.

Toshiba Completes SpursEngine Development

US, April 8, 2008 - Before the launch of the PlayStation 3, a lot was made of the supposed scalability of the system's 8-core Cell Processor. Various executives referenced the possibility of it appearing in HDTVs and stand-alone Blu-ray players, but after the PS3 debuted, not much was heard on the Cell processor front.

Today however, Toshiba has announced that it has finalized the design of the "SpursEngine," a 4-core variant of the 8-core Cell processor from the PlayStation 3. Though not as powerful as the PS3's brain, the SpursEngine does add a hardware codec for managing MPEG-2 and H.264 video. Via this design, the SpursEngine concept envisions it working in conjunction with both a PC's CPU and GPU, tackling floating point mathematics that could labor less specialized components and handling video processing without slowing major system processes.

Impressively, the SpursEngine is also expected to be pretty cheap when it is commercialized, adding just $50 to the cost of graphics cards that might integrate it. Though that won't be for a while yet, we'll be keeping our eye on this story, as sexy multi-core chips and low prices rarely go hand in hand.

GT 5 a plutot bien boosté les ventes, rien que les ventes pour GT 5 prennent toutes les ventes de la semaine de la 360 !!!

Encore une fois, Ubisoft va faire quelques galipettes avec Square-Enix sur le territoire européen. Et le contrat porte sur Dragon Quest Swords : The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors sur Wii et Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 sur DS. Le tout arrivera au printemps sur nos territoires, et ça, c'est classe.
