FLETCHER IS NOT NEW BECKHAM

Darren Fletcher has urged the media to stop comparing him to former Manchester United star David Beckham, instead preferring any comparisons with Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.
The young Scot is now a first team squad regular at Old Trafford and picked up his sixth Scotland cap in the defeat to Denmark in midweek.

Although still to win over some United fans, Fletcher has won praise from Roy Keane this week but has warned that he is not a replacement for Real Madrid midfielder Beckham.

" I can do without any more comparisons to David Beckham," he told The Daily Record.

" Every time someone mentions me they seem to want to throw in his name too.

" If it´s Dalglish you´re talking about then I don´t mind but don´t compare me to David Beckham.

" Having said that, to be compared to Dalglish is a bit strange too. I´m nowhere near his level yet but, hopefully, one day, the fans will put me in that sort of class."

Fletcher clearly has a long way to go before he can be mentioned in the same breath as the former Celtic striker but feels he is growing in stature at United, even though he is still to register his first goal for The Red Devils.

" When you first go into United´s first team, it´s just about keeping the ball, keeping things simple and working hard," he revealed.

" Some might even say what you are doing is passing on responsibility to the older, more experienced guys.

" But now I´m definitely past that stage. Now I´ll go and take the ball off Roy Keane and try to make things happen.

" Playing in the centre of midfield is not a weight of responsibility - it´s my position. It´s no different if I´m playing in a school game or for United or Scotland - it´s my preferred position and I just want to get on the ball and try to control the game.

" I don´t mind playing on the right but the first time in my life I ever played out there was for United´s first team."

GILL ANGER AT BARCA AND REAL

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has reacted with anger at the increasing speculation that Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to leave the club for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
The Dutch star is United´s most prized asset following the summer sale of David Beckham and the club are insistent that he will not be leaving Old Trafford in the near future.

Reliable Spanish sources have been insisting that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are confident that van Nistelrooy would be available for £30 million - should they decide to make a move.

United lost Beckham to Madrid and Ronaldinho to Barcelona - after the Catalans surprisingly managed to lure him to Camp Nou ahead of moving to the English champions - and both seem to be full of confidence when it comes to prising away United´s star forward.

The English giants are maintaining a strong stance on the issue and chief executive David Gill has written to both clubs telling them to leave van Nistelrooy alone.

" I have written to the clubs concerned and told them Ruud is not for sale," Gill told MUTV.

" We want to make it very clear to them what the position is and make sure the message gets through.

" We can´t be any more specific. We´ve been categorical about this. The facts of the situation are the same as they were a week, two weeks, three weeks, four weeks ago.

" We´ve signed Ruud on a long contract and that wasn´t done lightly or without planning.

" He has another four and a half years here. That is fact. There is no point saying anything else.

" Ruud outlined the situation in Saturday´s match programme. I have spoken to him today and we all agree it is in everyone´s best interests that this speculation stops."

Van Nistelrooy signed a new contract earlier this year, but their have been mutterings of dissatisfaction emerging from the North West for the last few months about the Dutch ace.

It remains to be seen how keen both Madrid and Barca´s interest is, but with at least one big target on each of their shopping lists every summer - United are likely to be preparing for worse to come.

Pour ce qui est de Ruud au Barça sincérement je préfère Trezeguet! Je pense vraiment que Trezeguet est l´attaquant qu´il nous faut!

Par contre malheureusement si le Real veut Ruud, ils l´auront! Je sais de quoi je parle, ils ont bien récupéré Figo!! Et puis pareil pour Zidane, Ronaldo et Beckham ( d´ailleurs regardez sur ce même topic à l´époque, je vous disez que Beckham irait au Real et vous ne me croyez pas... on a bien vu la réalité!)
Donc si le Real veut Ruud VanNistelrooy ils l´auront malheureusement. Mais je vois pas pourquoi ils s´intéressent à Van Nistelrooy, ils ont quand même Ronaldo et Morientes va probablement faire son retour. En clair Van Nistelrooy ne leur serviront pas à grand chose. Donc on peut se dire que l´arrivé de Van Nistelrooy se jouerait plus au niveau marketing que sportif ( comme l´arrivé de Zidane, Ronaldo et Beckham d´ailleurs) et là encore je pense qu´il y a d´autres joueurs que Van Nistelrooy pour faire vendre des maillots ( je les vois plus faire signer des joueurs comme Totti, Henry ( même si lui apparement aime réellement Arsenal), ou même Ronaldinho ) qui sont des joueurs un peu plus starisé!

Ne vous inquietez donc pas encore pour Van Nistelrooy. Et puis je pense qu´on ne connaitra pas la nouvelle recrue du Real avant la fin de l´euro et je pense qu´ils prendront la star de l´euro ( Donc si c´est Van Nistelrooy vous serez mal barré! ^^)
Et puis aprés tout, vous avez Saha! Il a marqué plus de but cette année que votre néerlandais et c´est un joueur qui participe davantage au jeu et il a encore une bonne marge de progression!!

ouais enfin saha est loin d´etre aussi bon que ruud et tant qu´à faire autant avoir les 2 en pointe.
