Ce qui est marrant, c'est que malgré ce genre de choses, on trouve toujours des gens pour dire qu'on est favorisé par les instances.

Scolari 'understands' Rafa rant

Luiz Felipe Scolari says he ‘understands very well’ the reasons for Rafa Benitez’s attack against Sir Alex Ferguson earlier this month.

Chelsea travel to Anfield on Sunday for a game that both sides will be desperate to win to keep the pressure on leaders Manchester United.

Yet Scolari has offered his backing to Benitez, saying he knows why the Liverpool boss felt the need to criticise Ferguson for his attitude towards officials.

"It's one of his ideas and I haven't spoken to him about it," he said.

"Maybe I will at the weekend. I understand. I understand very well.

"I understand that, sometimes, when we play there (at Old Trafford) and at Stamford Bridge, I know what happens."

Scolari en rajoute sur les propos de Benitez.

Sir Alex Ferguson pays tribute to his opposite number at Everton in the latest issue of Inside United magazine.

The boss sung the praises of David Moyes in Ask Sir Alex, the mag feature that enables fans to submit questions to him. When asked who the best Premier League manager is in terms of maximising his resources, Sir Alex eventually settled on his Everton counterpart.

"Steve Bruce has done a great job with his resources (at Wigan),” Sir Alex said.

“(Aston Villa's) Martin O’Neill has done well with his… Arsene Wenger… it’s difficult to assess Wenger because he spends a lot of Arsenal’s money on youth players and their salaries instead of spending it on a big player.

"But I’ll go for David Moyes, definitely. He has done fantastically well."

The Ask Sir Alex questions in the special 200th issue of Inside United are from celebrities, with the one above posed by TV presenter Eamonn Holmes. Joining Holmes in setting the agenda are famous fans such as comedian Patrick Kielty and singer Simon Le Bon as well as players past and present, including Denis Law and Michael Carrick.

Law's question on whether Sir Alex would consider managing Scotland after leaving United led to some press headlines on Friday, regarding the United boss not wanting to lead the British Olympic team in 2012. In fact, no mention was made of the Olympics.

"I won't turn to international management when I retire from this club," he replied to Law, via Inside United's journalist.

"When I've finished here, I think I deserve a rest!"

Other revelations in Ask Sir Alex include the quickest player he has worked with (the world's fastest man Usain Bolt wanted to know), the secret of staying humble (question from Pete Boyle) and the key to United’s continued success (Mickey Thomas).

“The key is that I’m at the right club,” Sir Alex replies.

“I’m at a club where everybody understands that success is important. Once we won that first league title in 1993, it opened the door for us and it’s been nothing but progress since.

"The progress hasn’t necessarily always been on the football field – there’s been a big development in the medical department, sports science, a new training ground… these have all been boosters to us.

"The other important factor is we’ve never lost the hunger. That’s important. We’ve not lost the hunger to win. That permeates right through the club.”
