Vodafone has sponsored Manchester United since 2000
English Premiership football club Manchester United said on Monday it had signed a new lucrative sponsorship deal from mobile telephone firm Vodafone.
The deal is worth £36m($62m) over four years, and extends an existing £30m four year deal that expires in May.
The soccer giants have entered a new business relationship with Vodafone to roll out a wide range of club content to wireless devices around the world.
Club chief executive David Gill said: " We are delighted to continue our sponsorship with Vodafone."
=>"Glazer ups stake"
Meanwhile, the club has confirmed that US sports baron Malcolm Glazer was the buyer of the 4.5% stake in United announced on Friday.
The owner of American Super Bowl champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now owns a 14.31% chunk of Britain´s richest soccer club.
The deal has reignited talk that Glazer is considering a takeover and United´s shares rose to a three-year high on Friday.
A number of other wealthy businessmen, who already own stakes in the club, have also been linked with a possible takeover offer.
The Irish racehourse magnates, JP McManus and John Magnier, raised their stake to 23% in October, when they bought BSkyB´s 10% share of the club.
Dutch TV entrepreneur John de Mol, another shareholder in the club, has also been mentioned as a possible suitor.
