Spurs sign Defoe
Spurs have signed West Ham´s Jermain Defoe for £7m plus Bobby Zamora.
The Hammers announced the sale of their 21-year-old prize asset just as the transfer window closed at 1700 GMT.
Defoe had been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, but Spurs have won the race for the signature of the highly-rated frontman.
Zamora moves to Upton Park after failing to make an impact at White Hart Lane following his £1.5m summer move from Brighton.
Defoe will be re-united at White Hart Lane with former Hammers team-mate Freddie Kanoute, who joined Spurs after West Ham´s relegation from the Premiership.
The England Under-21 youngster put in a transfer request less than 24 hours after West Ham went down, but he stayed at Upton Park and has scored 15 goals this season.
But he has also picked up three red cards as his disciplinary troubles piled up.
Meanwhile, the Hammers have moved to bring in midfielder Sebastien Carole on loan from Monaco.
The pacy 21-year-old, who can play in the centre or on the right, will stay at Upton Park until the end of the season.
