" Arsenal wait on Campbell"
Arsenal´s Sol Campbell could miss Sunday´s big Premiership match against Manchester United following the death of his father.
The centre-back played in Wednesday´s defeat at home to Inter Milan even though his father, 74-year-old Sewell, had just suffered his second stroke.
Sewell´s condition had been thought to have stabilised but he later died and the Gunners will let the player decide whether he wants to play at Old Trafford.
" We will leave it up to him," boss Arsene Wenger told the Evening Standard newspaper.
" First and foremost our thoughts and sympathy are with Sol and his family at the tragic news. We will wait and see how he recovers from it.
" You have to leave these decisions to the players. It can be a kind of therapy if he plays. You can get away and concentrate on something else.
" It is how everybody feels in that situation that dictates the attitude. But it will be left to Sol. We will respect whatever he decides to do at such a terrible time for him."
If Campbell, who turned 29 yesterday, decides that he is not up to playing, Martin Keown will probably partner Kolo Toure in defence, although Pascal Cygan is an option.
Campbell still faces a personal hearing with the Football Association after being charged with kicking out at United´s Eric Djemba-Djemba during the Community Shield in August.
