Non la faut plus rêver on ne recrutera plus de gardien, Howard aura pendant 2 ans la possibilité d´apprendre aux côtés de Van der Sarr ( qui a quand même un sacré parcours et un joli palmarés) pour peut-être s´imposer enfin. Et Luke Steele sera sans doute le n°3, Ziegler est un peu jeune pour ça et le deviendra ptet dans deux ou trois ans.

Maintenant on reparle du départ de Kleberson ( Sporting Lisbonne ? ), arrivée éventuelle de Park au milieu...

Reds Sign Van Der Sar

Manchester United have signed Edwin van der Sar from Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

Subject to a medical when van der Sar returns from international duty with Holland, the 34-year-old will sign a two-year contract with the Reds with effect from 1 July.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been searching for a new goalkeeper since deciding to give Roy Carroll and Ricardo free transfers when their contracts expire at the end of June. Tim Howard had been the club´s only recognised goalkeeper.

Van der Sar has 95 international caps with Holland. The Dutchman moved to Craven Cottage from Juventus for £5m in August 2001. In four years with the London club, he made 153 appearances.

C´est klr mais je voulais demander park, il peut jouer a n´importe quel poste au milieu non ?

Park peut milieu gauche ou droit d´après ce que j´en ai vu.

Je suis assez etonné que Sir Alex ait signé van der Sar, c´est pas sa politique de recruter des trentenaires surtout que lui on va devoir vite le remplacer. J´attends quand meme Casillas , l´an prochain, en fin de contrat meme si ça risque d´etre presque infaisable de le faire venir.

Quant à Park, il faudrait le faire jouer milieu gauche pour remplacer Ryan et faire jouer Cristiano milieu droit comme ça on aurait 2 bons ailiers

A gauche, on peut aussi faire jouer Kieran qui a prouvé qu´il avait le niveau pour le faire et faut pas oublier Ryan qui a signé un nouveau contrat surement pas pour cirer le banc.

mais si ryan a prolonger c´est justement en cas ou on ne trouve pas de ailier gauche sa c´est mon avis

United make Villa move

Manchester United have made a move to sign Real Zaragoza striker David Villa, according to the player´s agent.

United are believed to have made their interest known to Zaragoza and are ready to rival Valencia for his signature.

Valencia have been in talks with Real Zaragoza for Villa for the last few days and are keen to bring him to La Mestalla.

Real Zaragoza are resigned to losing Villa due to their financial problems, but they are insistent that he will not be sold on the cheap.

Villa´s release clause stands at €12 million and although Valencia are only offering €9 million Zaragoza are determined to get every penny for the striker.

Villa is regarded as one of the best young strikers in Spain and he was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool last January before they signed Fernando Morientes.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a productive season with Zaragoza last term netting 18 goals and breaking into the national team set-up.

His performances appear to have caught the eye of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and he is hoping to lure him to Old Trafford.

News of United´s interest in Villa comes as something of a surprise as they have an abundance of attacking talent already at Old Trafford with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Alan Smith and Louis Saha all battling it out for places in the side.

However, it appears that Valencia are firm favourites to clinch Villa´s signature with the player thought to be keen on staying in Spain at this stage of his career.

Villa´s agent Jose Luis Tamargo has confirmed United´s interest and admitted Villa is ready to snub a lucrative contract on offer from United to stay in Spain.

" The player is ready to accept less money to stay in La Liga," said Tamargo.

Oui j´ai souvent parlé de lui sur ce forum, un joueur longtemps méconnu en dehors de la Liga, et pas forcément une grande star espagnole mais j´aime bien ce joueur, trés percutant, un buteur mais il peut jouer milieu gauche...Je me souviens d´un match de folie de lui face au Real cette saison notamment ^^

Edwin van der Sar come on down - the latest in line to try and succeed the great Peter Schmeichel and finally give Manchester United a reliable last line of defence.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson´s deal for Fulham´s 35-year-old Holland international is the culmination of a transfer pursuit that started six years ago when Schmeichel quit Old Trafford after the 1999 Champions League triumph.

He lost out to Juventus - and it is a sign of his failure to replace the great Dane that he has now been forced to return to his original target in a bid to solve United´s most pressing problem.

Van der Sar has Premiership and European experience but is reaching the end of his career and the pressure is on him to prove he can finally answer Ferguson´s demand for goalkeeping reliability.

But can he do any better than those that have tried and failed before him?

MARK BOSNICH - FREE TRANSFER FROM ASTON VILLA JUNE 1999
Ferguson broke a golden rule when he took Bosnich from Aston Villa only a month after Schmeichel´s retirement - he gave a player who snubbed him a second chance.

Alan Shearer was the other man afforded this privilege and Bosnich came back after once buying his way out of an Old Trafford contract before resurfacing at Villa.

Bosnich wasted his second chance under Ferguson

But the relationship between Ferguson and Bosnich was uneasy, with the manager never truly convinced about his attitude, while the goalkeeper´s form was patchy.

Bosnich´s future was being questioned within weeks.

Eventually given a free transfer in January 2001, his career went into freefall and he was sacked by Chelsea and banned from the game for nine months after failing a drugs test.

So the joke went about this calamitous black mark of Ferguson´s transfer record.

A mysterious signing at the time - and one that became even more mysterious when you actually saw the Italian in action.

Played in a win at Liverpool on his debut but blundered horribly to let in a 30-yarder from Matt Le Tissier during a 3-3 draw at Old Trafford soon afterwards.

Finished off his United career in a 5-0 defeat at Chelsea. Soon packed back to Italy.

FABIEN BARTHEZ - £7.8M FROM MONACO JUNE 2000
Barthez came closest to breaking the Schmeichel spell. Brilliant for France during the World Cup win in 1998 and then in victory during Euro 2000, he was regarded as a stunning signing.

He was outstanding at United for long periods but expensive errors, especially in big games, cost him dearly.

The low point was a Champions League defeat against Deportivo La Coruna at Old Trafford. He blundered with Wes Brown to gift Sergio a goal, then charged from his area to intercept a ball Brown had covered for Diego Tristan´s winner.

ANDY GORAM - LOAN FROM MOTHERWELL MAY 2001
Blink-and-you-miss-it Manchester United career for the 36-year-old former Rangers old-timer.

Goram was a mysterious signing

Once a truly outstanding keeper but not when he got to United - almost unfair of Ferguson to plunge him into the Premiership.

Let´s be charitable and say Goram had lost a little of his mobility by the time he reached Old Trafford.

A forgettable interlude for all involved.

ROY CARROLL - £2.5M FROM WIGAN JULY 2001
Carroll arrived as understudy to Barthez but was soon thrust into action as a result of the French goalkeeper´s eccentricities.

Never convincing as a number one and will be remembered for blunders such as the goal he gifted to AC Milan in the Champions League and " the goal that never was" - struck from the halfway line by Tottenham´s Pedro Mendes.

RICARDO - £1.5M FROM VALLODOLID
Not in the Taibi black museum but one of Ferguson´s more pointless signings. Five-game flop, who never once threatened to become a regular.

TIM HOWARD - £2.3M FROM NEW YORK METROSTARS JULY 2003
Gave the early impression of finally answering Manchester United´s goalkeeping dilemma but soon ran short of form and confidence and has never fully recovered.

He suffered after a mistake that gifted Porto a two-leg win against United in the Champions League in 2004.
