State of terror
Malcolm Glazer is so scared of Manchester United´s militant fans that he plans to hold board meetings 4,000 miles away in Florida. He tightened his grip on the club earlier this week by placing his sons on the board. But he has no intention of forcing them to put their safety on the line in Manchester attending to club business. Furious fans have warned the Glazers that their health is at risk if they dare set foot inside the ground after their £790m takeover. The Tampa-based family have now taken steps to ensure future meetings of the board can be held in America. Talks between them and chief executive David Gill have taken place via video link since last month´s buy-out. And the board has also held meetings with Malcolm and Joel Glazer by telephone conference. Gill has now been summoned to Florida to discuss the future.

Thanks but no Yanks
Malcolm Glazer has been told to Bucc Off by Spanish ace Vicente. The £14million-rated Valencia winger humiliated new Manchester United owner Glazer by snubbing his Old Trafford Yankee revolution. Vicente, 23, said: " It´s pleasing United are interested but I´m happy at Valencia." Valencia president Juan Soler added: " A director at the English club called me but Vicente is totally untransferable." Vicente, who has won 29 caps for Spain, added: " I know that United are interested in me but I didn´t speak to anyone. The president informed me about the situation. But I´m happy to remain at Valencia because I was born here and it´s my home."

Glazer´s plan revealed

Manchester United supporters are facing the likelihood of a huge increase in ticket prices under new owner Malcolm Glazer.

According to The Times, Glazer is planning to raise the price of Old Trafford tickets by 54 percent within the next five years.

The newspaper made the claims after suggesting it viewed ´previously unseen documents´ on Glazer´s five-year vision for The Red Devils.

The report also suggests that UEFA Champions League ticket prices will increase by 25 percent from next year while manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be limited to a player spending budget of £25 million per season - excluding receipts from player sales.

Glazer´s reported five-year plan includes the new owner´s desire to increase the club´s revenues by 52 percent from £161.5 million this year to £245.6 million by 2010.

Under the plan, the improved turnover would be funded by a 61 percent increase in matchday sales, a 13 percent rise in media sales and a 76 percent increase in sales of merchandise and other commercial activities.

Glazer´s plan also suggests that United players would be expected to appear in a yearly showcase match in the owner´s hometown of Tampa, Florida.

The report is sure to further disillusion United supporters, with some fans seemingly ready to follow through with their boycott of the Premiership giants following Glazer´s takeover last month.

>>> Pour aller voir un match de MU va falloir debourser de plus en plus cher.

Man Utd fans upset by price claim

GLAZER PLANS

Ticket prices to rise by 54% over five years
Champions League tickets to go up by up to 25%
Man Utd to play match in Tampa each year, raising £2m
Transfer budget of £25m per season for next five years
Matchday turnover to rise by 61%, 13% increase in media turnover and 76% increase in merchandising
Shirt sponsorship to be worth £10.8m a season by 2010
Turnover to increase to £246m by 2010

Fans´ group Shareholders United have hit out at claims Manchester United fans face huge rises in ticket prices after Malcolm Glazer´s takeover.
Reports say the average ticket will go from £30 to £46 over five years.

" How is he going to fill an expanded stadium when fans are leaving in droves?" SU chair Nick Towle asked BBC Radio Five Live.

" They are so disillusioned with the massive increases it will just turn more and more fans off."

Andy Mitten, editor of fanzine United We Stand, added on Five Live: " Some of the games have barely sold out in recent years.

" Are home games on a Tuesday night against Charlton or Portsmouth going to sell out with the extra ticket price? I´m not convinced."

United supporters will also be alarmed at suggestions that manager Sir Alex Ferguson is to be limited to a transfer fund of £25m a season for the next five years.

" The drive for commercialisation is becoming too much for most fans," added Towle.

" It´s really beginning to create a big problem, and that´s just before fans stop buying the products and merchandise, which will also increase in price.

" Our campaign to urge fans to exercise their consumer choice and just not buy the products of the club or the products of the company and the products of the sponsors is going to grow and grow."

A spokesman for Mr Glazer´s business told the BBC nothing was finalised.

" Things are still up in the air. Plans have not been finalised," said the spokesman, who represents Mr Glazer´s son Joel.

The spokesman also dismissed speculation that Sir Bobby Charlton will be axed from the United board.

:d) Korean Park keen on Man United switch
Fri Jun 10, 2005 7:49 AM BST

SEOUL, June 10 ( Reuters) - South Korea´s Park Ji-sung, a target for Manchester United, said on Friday he could make a big impact in England but that a transfer had yet to be finalised.

The English Premier League club have approached PSV Eindhoven about buying the midfielder, a spokesman for the Dutch champions said this week.

" If I play hard, I think I can be an important player for Manchester United," Park said at a news conference on Friday.

Park was returning to South Korea after helping his country book their place in their sixth consecutive World Cup by scoring in their 4-0 thrashing of Kuwait.

PSV said Park would not make a decision on the transfer until he has talked to coach Guus Hiddink, who is on holiday.

Park played a key role in South Korea´s run to the 2002 World Cup semi-finals and helped PSV reach the last four of the Champions League this year.

" A move to Manchester has yet to be confirmed," said Park. " Although there is a lot of interest in it, I kindly ask for your patience on this matter."

However, Park expressed confidence that he could make the grade in England.

" Every player wants to play in the Premier League," said Park. " I think I am capable of making the transition."

:d) Man United Will Sign Park In The Next 48 Hours
By Brenz - June 10 2005

Manchester United expect to sign PSV midfielder Ji-Sung Park in the next 48 hours. The South Korean had almost signed a extension to his current deal with PSV when Manchester United suddenly expressed serious interest.

PSV wanted a good price for their attacking midfielder and now it seems they will get that.

Park was one of the best players for PSV last season and impressed worldwide with his brilliant displays in the Champions League semi finals against AC Milan.

Man U wasn´t the only interested side, J.S. Park could also count on interest from Villarreal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa. PSV demands £8 million for the 24 year old and Manchester are prepared to pay that, PSV are also interested in a part exchange deal which would lower the price to £5.4m and could include Darren Fletcher, Phil Neville or Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

Park will be the second player to leave PSV this summer, earlier Johann Vogel left and signed for AC Milan, who loaned him out to Sampdoria

Fergie leads Owen chase
Manchester United are in pole position to sign Michael Owen. Sir Alex Ferguson has been drooling over the prospect of creating an England dream team by linking the Real Madrid star with his own Wayne Rooney. And Fergie has asked Madrid to keep him informed about Owen´s future. The Spanish giants have told Fergie if they decide to sell then United will get the nod. A United source said: " Michael is a proven goalscorer at every level of the game, so the boss knows what he can do and what he would bring to United. He would be a great signing for this club."
Danny Fullbrook, Daily Star

Kieran wait
Bryan Robson must wait until the end of the month to discover if he can sign Manchester United midfielder Kieran Richardson in a season-long loan deal. Richardson, 20, joined West Brom on loan in January and helped them avoid relegation. Robson said: “It is difficult to get into the United side. His best option may be back here.”
