Resignation and appointment of directors
Following the unconditional mandatory cash offer for Manchester United PLC made
by NM Rothschild & Sons Limited on behalf of Red Football Limited on 23 May
2005, Sir Roy Gardner, the Non-Executive Chairman of Manchester United PLC, and
Mr Ian Much and Mr Jim O´Neill, both Non-Executive Directors of Manchester
United PLC, have each resigned from the board of directors of Manchester United
PLC with effect from 6 June 2005.
Manchester United PLC is pleased to announce the re-appointment to the board of
directors of Andy Anson as Commercial Director and the appointment of Joel
Glazer, Avram Glazer and Bryan Glazer as new Non-Executive Directors. The
appointments are effective from 6 June 2005.
Andy Anson, aged 40, joined Manchester United PLC on 23 February 2004 as
Commercial Director. He was previously a partner at OC&, a global strategy
consulting company, prior to which he worked for Channel 4 Television and the
Walt Disney Corporation. He is a non-executive director of Emuse Corporation
PLC.
Joel Glazer, aged 38, has worked as a vice president of First Allied
Corporation, a US real estate investment company. In 1995, he was made
executive vice president of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL, and he
continues in such position to date. He has extensive sports management
experience.
Avram Glazer, aged 44, has worked as a vice president of First Allied
Corporation, a US real estate investment company. In 1995, he became president
and chief executive officer of Zapata Corporation, a US public company which
currently has two operating companies, Safety Components International, Inc. and
Omega Protein Corporation, and he continues in such position to date. He is
also chairman of the board of directors of Omega Protein Corporation and a
director of Safety Components International, Inc.
Bryan Glazer, aged 40, has worked as a vice president of First Allied
Corporation, a US real estate investment company. He serves on the board of
directors of Zapata Corporation. In 1995, he was made executive vice president
of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL, and he continues in such position to
date. He has extensive sports management experience.
Other than as disclosed above, there are no matters in connection with these
appointments to be disclosed under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to ( g) or paragraph 16.4
( a) of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
