Foot - ANG : L´EPO bientôt dépistée

La Fédération anglaise prévoit d´introduire des tests de dépistage de l´EPO dès cette saison. «Nous allons dépister l´EPO dans un futur proche. Nous allons procéder à environ 1.600 contrôles contre 1250 la saison dernière», a précisé un porte-parole de la FA.

La nouvelle a réjoui Arsène Wenger, le manager d´Arsenal, leader du Championnat. «Nous avons vu des joueurs arriver de l´étranger avec des taux hématocrites anormalement élevés», a dit le technicien français, sans préciser si ces joueurs avaient été engagés par le club londonien. «Il y a des clubs qui dopent les joueurs à leur insu.»

Glazer faces growing opposition from supporters
American multi-millionaire Malcolm Glazer appears to be stepping up his bid to buy Manchester United, in the face of staunch opposition from fans.
Glazer made contact with United´s major shareholders Cubic Expression on Thursday evening, according to reports.

John Magnier and JP McManus own 29% of shares and Glazer, who holds 19%, is believed to be ready to meet the pair´s asking price of around £3 a share.

But several supporter groups are not convinced Glazer has sufficient funds.

They fear he would have to mortgage the club´s future to raise the required stake.

One group calling themselves the Manchester Education Committee targeted Thursday night´s reserve game at Altrincham to make their feelings known.

The Manchester Education Committee invaded the pitch in a peaceful protest and aimed a `Not For Sale´ banner at the cameras of MUTV - whom they accused of biased coverage after airing what they considered a pro-Glazer interview.

That accusation has been furiously denied by MUTV, which is one-third owned by United.

In a statement, MEC warned if the club continued to ignore fans´ concerns they would " render the club ungovernable".

The demonstration came after club director Maurice Watkins had his car vandalised.

That attack is thought to be in retribution for selling one million shares in February which later ended up as part of Glazer´s stake.

Premiérement il faudra qu´il m´explique comment il peut avoir ces résultats Il a assez d´argent pour briser le secret médical ?

Deuxiémement, il ferait mieux de réfléchir avant de parler, car même si des joueurs étrangers débarquent ( éventuellement) avec des taux élevés, cela ne signifie pas pour autant que la prise d´EPO implique un taux élevé d´hématocrite. On peut avoir un taux trés bas naturellement, et ainsi masquer la prise d´EPO en restant sous les 50%...

Enfin bref, je vois pas trop l´intérêt pour Wenger de polémiquer la-dessus, la lutte contre le dopage est une trés bonne chose, ça ne sert à rien de pointer du doigt des gens qu´on a pas le courage de nommer en plus. Surtout qu´Henry est passé par la Juve, alors à la place de Wenger je la jouerai profil bas sur ce coup vu l´instruction en cours au sujet de la Juve.

Encore une affaire qui fera le bonheur des tabloïds malheureusement, pourquoi tout le monde ne peut respecter son prochain ? ^^

MANCHESTER UNITED want to sign Edwin Van der Sar in January.

Old Trafford chief Alex Ferguson is desperate to land a keeper on the cheap and has targeted Fulham’s Dutch star — who is out of contract in the summer.

The Londoners are aware of the interest and are braced for United to snatch their star player for the second time in a year.

Last season, Fergie snapped up Cottagers’ French striker Louis Saha.

Van der Sar, 33, has been outstanding for Fulham since arriving in a £7million switch from Juventus in 2001.

But Fulham have since slashed their wage bill and could not afford to keep him on anything like his current £40,000-a-week wage.

Van der Sar was being lined up for a move to Ajax but would fancy United.

Boss Fergie is unconvinced by keepers Tim Howard and Roy Carroll.

Howard has been axed after blunders against Bolton and Lyon last month.

His replacement Carroll is out of contract in the summer and has not been offered a new deal.

Middlesbrough, meanwhile, have targeted Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen to replace Mark Schwarzer — if the Aussie quits the Riverside next summer.

Schwarzer, 32, is out of contract at the end of the season and there have been no talks over a new deal.

Malcolm Glazer faces Prem probe
American billionaire Malcolm Glazer will come under intense scrutiny from the FA and FA Premier League if he launches a successful bid to take control of Manchester United. It emerged last night that Glazer, who owns American football team Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has a 19 per cent stake in United, will be expected to prove he is a " fit and proper person" to run a football club. The test was implemented in the summer to protect clubs from falling into the hands of dubious individuals. Existing owners and directors of all 20 Premiership clubs have already undertaken the test. A Premier League source said: " Prospective new owners and directors of clubs have to prove they are fit and proper people to run a club. The appointment of new directors and owners is scrutinised by us and the FA."
