United scouts in Italy

Manchester United scouts have been keeping tabs on surprise package Messina, according to sources in Italy.

Talented wing back Alessandro Parisi has certainly caught the eye during his side´s startling charge up the Serie A table.

With Bortolo Mutti´s ( pictured) men lying in second place in the table, many clubs have been alerted by the team´s outstanding start with Valencia, Internazionale and Juventus already reportedly plotting a January bid for the 27-year-old wide man.

Parisi is a left-sided player and United chief executive David Gill admitted in the summer that the club would work through a list of targets for this position after missing out on the signature of Chelsea´s Arjen Robben.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to have more competition for Ryan Giggs´s regular slot and it is likely he will continue to despatch his spies to foreign climes in order to identify potential targets for 2005.

Parisi has scored twice this term and is highly rated within his homeland.

Pour Brown il parait que le club attend d´en savoir plus son état physique avant de proposer à nouveau quoi que ce soit. Son départ n´est donc pas encore acquis ^^

j´espere que brown restera et pour le nouveau milieu gauche c´est bien de savoir qu´on pourra en avoir un autre, il va peut-etre falloir s´offrir un nouveau goal aussi.

Pour le gardien il y en aura pas mal en fin de contrats ou pas cher, comme Schwarzer, Marshall, Friedel, Van der Sarr, Cudicini, Jaaskelainen, Niemi, etc...Et je persiste à penser que MU prendra plutôt une doublure qui puisse rendre de temps à autre des services qu´un vrai numéro 1. Howard reviendra à un bon niveau je pense ^^

Army Of Red Ants To Take On Glazer

Manchester United supporters believe a massive display of fan power can scare off Malcolm Glazer in his controversial bid to buy the club.

The influential Shareholders United group are mobilising a massive 100,000-strong operation to persuade Glazer he is not wanted around Old Trafford as he seeks to put the finishing touches to his takeover.

The fans are furious that Glazer could plunge United into debt by borrowing against future income to gain the capital he needed to pull off the deal.

And they believe if enough United shareholders gather together in one umbrella organisation they can send a serious message that Glazer and other prospective owners are not wanted.

A defiant Shareholders United spokesman insisted: " An army of red ants can easily bring down big beasts. With over 150,000 people on board, we can have a serious impact not only as shareholders, but also as customers.

" It´s not just about how many shares are in the hands of fans, but how many fans there are holding shares.

" A big block of shares gives us voting power, but a large number of shareholders gives us people power - the combination is a powerful force."

Glazer has so far been unmoved by the fans´ revolt, which included disruption of a reserve match at Altrincham´s Moss Lane ground last week.

He has sought initial contact with United´s major shareholders John Magnier and JP McManus, whose agreement is essential to his takeover plans.

In a bid to counter-act Glazer´s move, Shareholders United have offered 100,000 free membership places in their Supporters Trust.

They believe they might deter Glazer by acquiring at least 10% of shares, thereby avoiding a compulsory purchase order which would give Glazer free rein.

Houston added: " By joining the Trust, fans will be sending a very clear message that they do not want someone taking over their club and that they want to own a significant stake in it themselves.

" This isn´t just about Glazer - once we hopefully send him packing,we´ll still be vulnerable to greedy profiteers looking to swallow up the club."
