Chapuis set to leave Leeds
Leeds United loane Cyril Chapuis is set to return to France with a move to Strasbourg.
The French striker has been identified by Strasbourg as a ready-made replacement for Danijel Ljuboja - who is set to complete a switch to Paris Saint Germain in the next 24 hours.
The 24-year-old has failed to establish himself at Elland Road and has not been helped by the fact that Peter Reid - the man who brought him to the club - left earlier this season.
Chapuis is now set to have talks with Strasbourg about a move, with Leeds already indicating that they would be willing to let him end his spell with them early.
Strasbourg are also looking at Bastia´s Florian Maurice and could add both players to their ranks using the €3 million plus they are getting from PSG for Ljuboja.
A few details have still to be resolved over Ljuboja´s move, although the deal is expected to be sealed very soon.
PSG had hoped to reduce the fee by letting Nigerian starlet Bartholomew Ogbeche move in the opposite direction.
Strasbourg chief Marc Keller has confirmed the club are interested in the Nigerian, but he will not be involved in the current Ljuboja deal.
" Ogbeche interests us," he said. " But his coming here will not enter into the framework of the transfer of Ljuboja.
" The PSG needs to find agreement with the player and his agents and then they will come back to us with a deal."
Ljuboja is now in the capital undergoing a medical, while his representatives discuss terms, and he could yet make his debut for PSG in Saturday´s clash with Lille.
Once Ljuboja´s move is confirmed, then Chapuis is expected in Strasbourg to seal his move from Marseille, while Maurice could also join him in the next few days.
