" Fergie blames Kenyon for Ronaldinho miss"
:: Sunday, 14 March 2004 ::
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has blamed former chief executive Peter Kenyon for the club´s failure to sign Ronaldinho.
The Brazilian World Cup winner joined Barcelona last summer after the Spanish giants won a high-profile tussle with United for the player´s signature.
United instead bought his fellow Brazililian Kleberson who hasn´t done quite as well as expected.
United´s transfer negotiations were then handled by Kenyon, who is now at Chelsea after leaving his post at Old Trafford early in the season.
Ferguson told the News of the World: " It was disappointing not to get Ronaldinho. There was a problem with his brother, who was his agent, but Peter Kenyon, who was chief executive then, didn´t get the job done."
Ferguson has also revealed his frustration at working for a football plc rather than a club.
He added: " We are a plc with responsibilities. It´s not too restricting and we can spend, but there has to be a balance."
=>Pas sur de la véracité de ces propos, ça vient encore de " News of the World"
