Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he may make additions to his squad in the approaching January transfer window.
The Reds boss, speaking after watching his side take three points against Middlesbrough to move four points clear at the top of the Premiership, says he may be " tempted" to bolster his squad, but only if the right player at the right price comes along.
" We´re just assessing the situation," Sir Alex told Sky Sports. " We will have a look. We may do something and if the right deal and the right person comes along we may be tempted."
The United manager says Rio Ferdinand´s impending eight-month ban will not dictate who he moves for in the mid-season transfer window.
" That doesn´t come into the equation at all," said Fergie. " We´ve had our views for quite a while."
With Wes Brown returning to the bench against Middlesbrough on Sunday, albeit not making an appearance, the United boss may feel he has adequate cover for Rio who is due to start his ban on January 12.
Ferguson has been linked with a move for a striker in recent weeks with Fulham indicating the United boss made an approach for their striker Louis Saha.
