" Allardyce praises Howard"

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce was left to rue his side´s misfortune after the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United.
United keeper Tim Howard made a string of breathtaking saves as Bolton were denied at least a point from the game.

Allardyce said: " What won United the game was probably the keeper. He made some wonderful saves in both halves. When we were looking for some fortune the ball did not drop right."

=>Howard exceptionnel hier apparemment ^^

United rock solid
A relieved Sir Alex Ferguson watched his Manchester United dig in for victory, and then awarded distinguished conduct medals to defensive rocks Rio Ferdinand and Tim Howard. Ferdinand and Howard stood out on a night when United´s dogged qualities caught the eye rather than their renowned cavalier attacking attributes. Ferguson said: " Rio was fantastic. He and Mikael Silvestre were doing all the right stuff and Tim made three or four tremendous saves."

Fortune´s dilemma
Quinton Fortune faces a club versus country row following the suspension of South Africa coach Ephraim Mashaba over his team selection. Now, along with Charlton´s Mark Fish, he could be called up by new boss Styles Phumo. But Fortune has already committed to United and may have to retire from the international game.

=> " Man Utd move for Celtic ace"

Miller has impressed for Celtic
Manchester United are poised to sign Celtic midfielder Liam Miller on a pre-contract agreement.
The 22-year-old appears likely to turn down a multi-million pound offer of a new deal from the Glasgow club to join the team he supported as a boy.

United are expected to make an announcement soon.

But Celtic fear the worst and said: " It is a salary package which would make him one of the very best-paid young players in Scottish football history."

Celtic had been hoping to extend the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 captain´s contract when it ends in the summer.

Manager Martin O´Neill had grown concerned that negotiations had been dragging on for months and United were able to enter the equation when the transfer window opened this month.

We made an extremely generous offer to Liam Miller

Celtic spokesman
Speculation mounted that an announcement was imminent from Old Trafford and a Celtic spokesman said: " We have had no conformation from Manchester United of any pre-contractual agreement.

" We made an extremely generous offer to Liam Miller, the biggest salary deal ever put on the table for a young Celtic player who has come up through the ranks.

" This offer was made following detailed consideration of Liam´s contribution to the team to date during his 16 first-team starting appearances, as well as eventual potential."

Miller´s progress at Celtic Park had been hampered by injury problems earlier in his career and he was farmed out to Danish club Aarhus for a season in 2001.

But the Cork-born midfielder broke into the Celtic first-team this season and impressed both domestically and in the Champions League, although he was left on the bench against Rangers at the weekend.

It would be a blow for Celtic should his departure be confirmed, as Miller was seen as a big hope for the future with the likes of midfielders Paul Lambert and Neil Lennon nearing the end of their careers.

News of Miller´s departure comes 24 hours after Celtic´s capture of Scotland midfielder Stephen Pearson from Motherwell, who was also out of contract in the summer, for a cut-price £350,000.

The loss of Miller at the end of the season would again fuel speculation about O´Neill´s own future at Celtic.

He has been linked with moves to a number of Premiership clubs, including United.

Miller had himself said that he would take into account the manager´s position at Celtic while making a decision about his own future.

The presence at Old Trafford of former Ireland captain Roy Keane, with whom the strong-running Miller has been compared, will have been a factor should he head for United.

Miller first attracted the attention of Celtic when playing for his local side in Ovens, County Cork, and moved in Scotland in 1997.

He has been a regular in the Ireland Under-21 side and was called up to the full squad for the friendly against Canada in November.

Miller would follow in the footsteps of Brian McClair, Lou Macari and Paddy Crerand in moving from Celtic Park to Old Trafford.

Ferguson ready to turn to Viduka if Saha move fails

Sir Alex Ferguson will turn his attentions to luring Mark Viduka from Leeds if his renewed £10m bid to prise Louis Saha from Fulham collapses.

The Manchester United manager is acutely aware that he cannot continue to rely on Ruud van Nistelrooy´s brilliant form, hence his controversial attempt to lure Saha from the Cottagers during the transfer window.

Mohamed al Fayed´s public condemnation of Ferguson´s methods of recruitment mean the chances of United landing their man are slim.

However, Saha´s equally vehement attack on his own club for not letting him join the Old Trafford outfit keeps the possibility alive that a sale could be pushed through.

Ferguson will waste no time in turning to Viduka from cash-strapped Leeds if he decides the Saha deal cannot be concluded.

The reported £7m price-tag for Viduka may be enough to scupper that particular deal, although two new arrivals are anticipated in the coming months as the transfers of Chinese striker Dong Fangzhou and Celtic´s Liam Miller are reaching conclusion.

Dong´s arrival should be confirmed within the next week, although Britain´s tight work permit regulations may mean the 18-year-old is initially loaned out to Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp.

Meanwhile, Miller - dubbed the new Roy Keane north of the border - is thought to be on the verge of signing a pre-contract agreement with the Premiership champions which would see him leave Celtic when his current deal expires in the summer.

Christian Vieri has dismissed rumours linking him with a move away from Inter Milan in the transfer window.
Reports had suggested United were among clubs looking to snap up the Italian international, who has been unhappy at the San Siro since Hernan Crespo left to join Chelsea.

However, Vieri said: " I am not interested in the transfer market. It is part of a system that one day puts you in one place and the other day places you in another.

" Will I stay? Yes, I want to stay, but I would have to talk to [Inter president] Massimo Moratti at the end of the season."

Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has finalised a pre-contract agreement for midfielder Liam Miller from Celtic FC. Liam will join the club on 1st of July 2004 on a long term contract.

Liam Miller said: “As a young boy I only ever supported two clubs, Glasgow Celtic and Manchester United. I am honoured to have played for Celtic for six years and now I look forward to joining Manchester United. It’s very exciting and is going to be a challenge to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “We recognised the potential of Liam, he has had a great season at Celtic. He is very much part of our progressive thinking of developing a young team over the next few years”

David Gill, Chief Executive of Manchester United PLC, said “I am pleased to have Liam joining us, it focuses our continued commitment to bring in young players for the future”

Miller fact file:

Born: 13 February 1981, Cork, Ireland
Position: Midfielder
Height: 5’. 8”

Liam joined Celtic in June 1998 aged 16. This season he played in all but one of Celtic’s 19 SPL games scoring three goals. He also played in all the clubs Champion League matches, scoring three times.

Miller one of the best
Henrik Larsson last night claimed Liam Miller is one of the best young players he has ever seen. Swedish striker Larsson said: “Liam is one of the best young talents I have ever seen. He really is tremendous. He has shown amazing maturity and confidence. Right from his first game he looked like he’d always been playing at the highest level. At the moment it is impossible to say how far he can go — but he obviously has great potential.” Ireland Under-21 coach Don Givens believes Miller, 22, is destined to become the next Roy Keane. He said: “Liam does everything Roy did as a young player in the way he influenced the game. He has that same energy and can play high up in the midfield or further back."
Neil Custis, The Sun

Keane helps Fergie kidnap the new boy wonder from Celtic
When Liam Miller knocked on Martin O´Neill´s door last summer and told the Celtic manager that he was ready for first team action, he had no idea that he was talking to the wrong person. Miller feared his first-team opportunity would never come, having already spent four years at the club. Little did he know that 300 miles away in Manchester, Sir Alex Ferguson had identified him as one of Ireland´s brightest young footballers. United captain Roy Keane alerted his manager to Miller´s blossoming talents.
Ian Ladyman, Daily Mail

donc voila notre premiere recrue .

Surly Saha is United´s for £10m
Fulham manager Chris Coleman will reluctantly sell Louis Saha to Manchester United for £10million after another bust-up left their relationship at breaking point last night. The France striker will be fined two weeks´ wages - about £40,000 - for the outburst earlier this week when he revealing he was " disgusted and dejected" that Fulham had blocked his dream move to Old Trafford. Saha admitted he is operating a tried-and-tested formula in his efforts to force a move. He said: " In London I often go out in the company of Sylvain Wiltord, who has become a friend. He advised me to hold on. He had been in this kind of position. Before signing for Arsenal, he had to undergo a trial of strength with Bordeaux.
I see myself already at Old Trafford."

Pa Saha will Mo ´im down
Louis Saha refuses to accept that Fulham will not allow him to join Manchester United. The want-away French striker remains desperate to complete a dream £8million move to Old Trafford. And he will not back down in his escalating war of words with Fulham owner Mohamed Fayed and boss Chris Coleman. Saha has now turned the dispute into a family affair by drafting in the help of his father. Vincent Saha, who acts as his son’s agent, insisted: “This matter is not over. Louis does not want to miss out on the chance of a lifetime. He is still determined to join United and we will not yield.”

We all hate bullies
Manchester United players always wondered why they were sometimes booed when they turned out for England at Wembley. The arrogance of the Premiership champions so far this season has reminded a few people why they provoke such a reaction. Dragging football through the gutter over the Rio Ferdinand missed drugs test farce has not been enough for those in charge at Old Trafford. Just to make things worse, they´ve now decided to tarnish their reputation even further in the transfer market by trying to pressure PSV Eindhoven and Fulham into selling their best players.

Ruud VAN NISTELROOY is a double strike shy of 100 goals for Manchester United in all competitions.
Roy KEANE needs one goal to total 50 for the Old Trafford club.
