J´ai trouver ça!
I´m sure most of you read about SCIII being for PS2 ONLY in the IGN and Gamespot previews. It´s a shocking move considering what we´ve seen with SCII; it was multiplatform, AND the GCN version sold a lot more than the PS2 version. But it is somewhat logical since SC started out in the Playstation and it´s originally a console-exclusive title, so maybe this whole multiplatform thing with exclusive characters was a one-time thing. Also, I think Sony payed big bucks to bring SCIII over...looks like they want to create hype in order to compete against Micro´s Xenon system. It could be that both SCIII and Xenon will roughly have the same release date.
I´m still a bit skeptical about this though. I smell something funny. When I first heard the PS2 exclusivity I was all, " WTH with this crap?! The GCN version sold more!" I was fueled with rage...then I felt deja vu, I´ve seen this happening before. If you guys think back to games like Sonic Heroes, Sonic Mega Collection, the new Mortal Kombat, Tales of Symphonia, and even GCN´s " Capcom 5" ( particularly RE4)...what do those have in common? They all had exclusivity for their respective systems for a limited time only, but we didn´t know that until the companies announced -after the games have been released for a long time- that they´re releasing ports of these games on the left-out systems. The media always assumes upon the info they´re giving, turing everything into a 100%...but the fact is there´s no such thing as 100% these days. Regarding Mortal Combat, the PS2 and Xbox versions were announced first, and there was no sign of the GCN one...so everyone assumed that Midway is not releasing it for GCN ´cause it won´t sell well and it´s not online-enabled. Sometime after MK´s release, Midway announces a GCN version out of nowhere with new playable characters. ToS was GCN-exclusive, but in Japan it got a PS2 port a year later with new FMV/animated cut-scenes and new costumes and whatnot...sold around 800000 in Japan. Viewtiful Joe was GCN-exclusive for year, then it came to PS2 with Dante as a playable character. We all thought RE was Nintendo-exclusive, but Capcom announced a port of RE4 by the end of 2005 EVEN though all the interviews with the devs mentioned that RE4 will be for GCN ONLY.
So...you see the pattern here? I bet that SCIII will follow the same footsteps...GCN and Xbox ports will probably follow in 2006 ( hopefully with Link and Ganondorf as exclusive playable characters for the GCN version). I know everyone´s thinking that it would be too late by then since Xenon and Rev will be out by then...but don´t forget the Rev is backward compatiable with GCN games, so all is good.
I would personally be VERY MAD if there´s no GCN version in the works. I have no fear in admitting that I bought SCII because of Link!
Thoughts?
Je sais c´est en anglais. Mais j´ai pas trop le temps de vous expliqué ce qu´il dit.
