Maradona had it, Gazza had it, and now Wayne Rooney´s got it. In spades. The United star was superb in everything he did yesterday, but above all he showed that touch of devilment that separates the great from the very good. On the ball he´s a genius; off it he´s a ball of snarling spite. Poetry when in possession, in pursuit of it he´s damn near possessed. But it´s the demons that make the pug-faced Scouser such a delight to watch. I can think of no other player in the Premiership who could have done what Rooney did when creating England´s third goal. The amazing thing is, we almost expect that kind of genius from Rooney, even though he´s not yet out of his teens.

Kieran Can Help Make Sir Alex Rich Again
Kieran Richardson has told Sir Alex Ferguson he can save United millions of pounds in the transfer market. The England Under-21 has been in outstanding form since moving to West Brom on loan. But Richardson plans to go back to Old Trafford at the end of the season and help lift the doom and gloom that followed the announcement United would not be major players in the summer transfer market. " When you hear the club have no money to spend it is good," he told The SP. " It gives you more chance of being brought on. Manchester United are a great club and there will always be competition but I´m up for the challenge. When I go back I think I will have a far greater chance of establishing myself in the first team. I want to go back next season and be a regular, definitely."

Bell Swoop Rings True For Dowie
Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie has put Manchester United´s speedy striker David Bellion on his wanted list - as the new Andy Johnson. Dowie was a shock visitor to United´s reserves last week to look at the French flier in action ahead of a possible summer move. Bellion - a £3million capture from Sunderland - has failed to fire at Old Trafford and could be moved on at the end of the campaign. Dowie saw Bellion in typical form, full of genuine pace but also frustrating when he had chances in front of goal. However, there is something of the AJ about him. And with Johnson hinting at a move at the end of his glory campaign, Palace are keeping their backs covered by updating their Bellion file.

Turn Up And Shut Up
Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger will be ordered to meet referees in a bid to clean up the game´s image. The next meeting, planned for the end of July, will be compulsory as the Premier League and referees attempt to stamp out many of the incidents which have scarred this campaign. The managers will be told there will be a zero tolerance towards foul and abusive language directed either at referees or their assistants. Refs will show an immediate red card for any such abuse, with the FA handing out far more severe fines and punishment.
