Anigo: Inter may have taken us lightly
by Peter ORourke
Marseille coach Jose Anigo believes Internazionale may have underestimated them in their Uefa Cup quarter final.
The Stade Velodrome outfit became the first French side to beat Inter in European competition with a 2-0 aggregate victory and Anigo feels the Italian giants may have taken Marseille lightly.
Anigo also had words of sympathy for his Inter counterpart Alberto Zaccheroni who is set to come under further pressure following his side´s exit.
" I think about Alberto Zaccheroni who is not in the best position tonight, but he is a great man, and I hope he will lead Inter to Europe next season," said Anigo.
" We only had one aim not to concede any goals. We had difficult moments, but we managed them well.
" We started the two matches against Inter with the same state of mind as against Liverpool.
" We thought they were superior, but we finally defeated them twice. Perhaps Inter thought we were nothing more than a little team, and the surprise was greater for them."
Marseille now take on Newcastle in the semi-finals and Anigo is expecting a tough test against Sir Bobby Robson´s men.
" I think they will be two difficult matches against Newcastle, but indeed, after Liverpool and Inter, it becomes interesting.
" Three months ago, I could never imagine being in semi-final.
" We have a lot of hopes, and we will play for our lives in the two matches for the club to reach the final."
