"In the next version, I've put in a system which hopefully will combine some of the better elements of a grid-based and a 3D animation system. The time it takes for things to happen is the same, but actions no longer resolve instantly. That is, before, a dwarf would attack, and then wait 9 ticks doing nothing. Now a dwarf initiates an attack, waits 2-3 clicks, the attack resolves, and then recovers for 2-3 clicks. So the pacing is the same, or faster, but turns can interlace in interesting ways, and the initiative in combat can shift back and forth more naturally."
