After missing out on the signing of Javier Portillo, Nantes have already turned their attentions towards the winter transfer window by identifying Parana striker Borges as a potential target.
The Ligue 1 outfit stalled on a move for Real Madrid youngster Portillo before the transfer deadline and saw the highly-rated forward join Club Brugge on loan.
Les Canaris were agonisingly close to reaching an agreement with the Spanish giants for the youngster, although coach Serge Le Dizet was cautious about disrupting the dressing room atmosphere at La Beaujoire-Louis-Fonteneau.
Their striking problems were exacerbated by the departure of Gregory Pujol to Anderlecht and Le Dizet is keen to freshen up his forward line come January.
Nantes have now turned their attentions to Borges, real name Humberlito Borges Teixeira, and are keen to pursue a loan deal in the winter with a view to a permanent move.
The 25-year-old Brazilian has claimed five goals in seven games to help Parana remain just four points behind league leaders Santos in Brazil´s national championship.
