Loopring is a great project, but it can be difficult to grasp and people are keen to think this is 'just another decentralized exchange project' like Kyber, 0x, Blocknet, which it is not. In fact, those exchanges could use Loopring, just like how the decentralized exchange NEX that City of Zion is building will be using it, but they are not in competition with Loopring.

The problem I believe lies in the branding of Loopring. Loopring currently calls itself a decentralized exchange protocol, which is rather dry sounding and apparently confuses a fair deal of investors, and perhaps mainly appeals to tech-people.

When I started thinking on what Loopring really is and how to explain it simpler, I realized that it is essentially a Decentralized Shapeshift (protocol). What Shapeshift.io does is that they have accounts on multiple exchanges, and when you send in your Token A to trade for Token B, they buy it on the exchange at the cheapest price they can find to fill your order, take some fee, and send you your tokens.

This is essentially the same thing that Loopring does. It isn't an exchange per se, but using the Loopring wallet allows you to connect to multiple exchanges in order to get the same service as Shapeshift.io provides, except decentralized and on the blockchain! So from a consumer's perspective I think it's a fair comparison to make between the two.

Furthermore, where Shapeshift is only really useful to their customers and only slightly useful for exchanges (after all, exchanges where Shapeshift buys may see a little bit more volume because of it), Loopring benefits both the consumers as well as the exchanges. Because not only do the exchanges get increased volume from individual buyers/sellers who use Loopring 'like shapeshift', but each individual linked exchange also gets linked to the buy/sell orders of the other exchanges that are linked, which amounts to a lot more than just 'a little bit' more volume and ensures that they will always be able to offer the lowest price.

Am I seeing this right? If NEO is 'branded' as the Ethereum of China, and Steemit is a Decentralized Facebook, and SingularDTV is a Decentralized Youtube, is it fair to start branding Loopring as a Decentralized Shapeshift in order to make it more understable? It sounds catchy enough to me. What do you guys think?

Je réfléchis à en acheter depuis qu'il était sur BINANCE avant les ban ICO des chinois c'est pour dire. Mais là je me suis lancé j'ai acheté un gros paquet parce qu'il ne peut que monter après avoir lu ses quelques news ... En gros NEO va lancer un market décentralisé qui va utiliser la tech de Loopring
