Reports in the French media are suggesting that Marseille are lining up an audacious loan deal for Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
The Ivorian hit-man was a revelation at Stade Velodrome in the 2003/4 season as he fired l´OM to the Uefa Cup final, although has not made the expected impact in English football.
Drogba scored 16 goals as Chelsea went on to claim the Premiership and Carling Cup crowns, and Blues boss Jose Mourinho is actively seeking attacking reinforcements in a bid to sustain his remarkable managerial success next term.
With Mikael Forssell already making the move to Birmingham and Hernan Crespo set to extend his loan deal with Milan, there has been no indication as of yet that Chelsea are willing to part with the services of Drobga as well.
l´OM sporting director Jose Anigo is reported to be in talks with the London side to facilitate a loan deal for the £24 million man, whilst Blues team-mate Mateja Kezman has also been mooted as a potential target for new boss Jean Fernandez.
However, it is Drogba who would represent the biggest coup, and the prospect of having their hero return for a second spell would no doubt have the l´OM faithful in raptures.
The 27-year-old has also been mooted as being the pawn in a potential swap deal for Lyon star Michael Essien, although it remains to be seen whether Mourinho would be happy to discard the striker just twelve months after bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
