Jose Mourinho has insisted that Didier Drogba will be lining up at Chelsea next season.
Mourinho is said to be hot on the heels of a new striker, with Adriano and Samuel Eto´o two of the names in the frame.
Drogba cost £24 million from Marseille last summer, but he was disappointing in his first season in England, despite helping Chelsea to the Premiership title.
Drogba has been linked with a move to Lyon as part of a deal to get Michael Essien to Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho insists he will be staying.
The Portuguese tactician says that Ivory Coast man Drogba will show his best form next season, and ruled out him leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer.
" I know what people have said about Didier, but he will be better next season," said Mourinho.
" He has my complete trust and confidence and I know he will be a great striker for us.
" I want Chelsea to be champions again and Drogba is a major part of those plans. He is fearsome when at his best and he will show that when the new campaign starts."
Drogba himself had added to the talk by saying that he was homesick and not enjoying his life in London, and said he would return to France at some stage.
However, it will not be this summer, as Drogba insists he will be a much improved player next season.
" Once I get a number of games under my belt, the fans will see a different me," said Drogba.
" I´d play with a broken leg for Jose because of how much he has supported me.
" The main thing I have learned is how to win. Jose is addicted to victory and he has contaminated us all."
