The producer of Resident Evil: Deadly Silence Minoru Nakai has said that Resident Evil 5 won´t be making an appearance on the Revolution, and will stay on just the Xbox 360 and PS3. However he did say that the possibility was always there for future incarnations of the series to appear on Nintendo´s upcoming console.
Apparently, Nakai thinks that the new control scheme for the series - first seen in the frighteningly good Resident Evil 4, and set to return in Resident Evil 5 - wouldn´t suit the Revolution´s contoller. Interestingly, he mentions players might soon tire of this control scheme though - hinting that it won´t be a staple of the series forever - which is when the Revolution might get some Resi action once again.
It´s still bad news, whatever way you look at it, though it´s worth remembering that as the long-term producer of the series Shinji Mikami has left (with rumours suggesting he was unhappy at Capcom breaking it´s exclusivity contract with Nintendo), fans have been speculating that the fifth incarnation of the series won´t be as good as it´s predecessor. We´ll have to wait and see.
In the meantime though, we promised you a silver lining to the story, and it is this: Nakai has stated that players may not have to wait for way-off future incarnations of the Resident Evil series to see Revolution support from the Studio 4 team, hinting there was a non-Resi title for the console in the works - let´s just hope it´s not just a puzzle game...
