At the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Atlanta, Sega threw a bunch of magazine editors into a room, locked the door, handed them a stack of NDA´s to sign, and turned on the monitor. What it had to show was the freshly-designed technology demonstration, put together to let the Dreamcast strut its stuff.

This room really put the system through its paces, showing off all the nifty little tricks the system can do without even breaking a sweat.
Some of the more interesting bits to note --

Everything in the room is handled by the graphics processor alone. The Hitachi SH-4 chip is left alone, so in games it won´t strain itself pushing polygons and instead can be used for gameplay and AI elements.
All the textures in this room, ranging from 8x8 to 256x256 in resolution, fill only half of the Dreamcast´s texture memory. And that´s uncompressed, too.
The fruitbasket alone consists of more that 3000 polygons. That´s-a one spicy meatball.
The dinosaur is a transparent 3D object that´s formed by thousands of independent particles rising from a realistic fire.
The globe in the middle of the room is a solid object that´s completely transparent, utilizing a special texture-blending technique.
The duck in the pool was used to demonstrate the Dreamcast´s ability to show specular highlighting. The waves were unbelievably realistic.
