With over 10,000 goals scored in a decade of Premiership football, selecting the best was no mean feat. But David Beckham´s memorable effort against Wimbledon has been voted the FA Premier League´s Goal of the Decade.
DAVID BECKHAM - Saturday, 17 August, 1996. Wimbledon 0-3 MAN UTD.
Manchester United star David Beckham brought himself to the nation´s attention with his 60-yard wonder-goal against Wimbledon.
Beckham’s remarkable strike on the opening day of the 1996-97 season in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Wimbledon at Selhurst Park, narrowly beat Dennis Bergkamp’s goal for Arsenal at St James Park last season.
Almost three quarter of a million votes were registered for the 10 Seasons Awards that look back on the first decade of the Premier League, one which has arguably been the most exciting in English football history.
