Earlier today we posted about Live Season, a new feature in FIFA 09 (see the official EA Q&A on it HERE). There was a bit of confusion regarding certain aspects, so we've been in touch with EA this evening and here's what they said to us.
* Live Season is a premium service that is only available for the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and Mexican Primera Division. What it does is update the database whenever EA's network of football scouts feel the need to change a player's attributes. As a player performs poorly in a real world match - for example, if a striker misses a host of chances in his last game - that player's stats will be reduced to match his current form.
* The service will carry a subscription fee (yet to be specified), but when you purchase the game you can choose one of the aforementioned leagues and receive Live Season updates for that league free of charge until the end of the 2008/2009 season, using a code printed on the back of the game manual.
* Injuries will not be included in Live Season updates as such; players who become injured will have their attributes dropped as if they were on very poor form, meaning that you can still select them in your starting eleven, but they will not be as skilful as when they are fit and healthy in the real world.
* Manager mode will not be affected by Live Season updates.
