Hello,
Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I´m sorry to know that you are having issues with the game, I say this because this is one of our favorites here. Is this your first time to use the EA Link?
This error is caused by a software or operating system conflict on your system.
There have been issues with programs running in the background in Windows, as well as Internet Explorer settings. To end these background tasks, and change your Internet Explorer settings.
For the procedure on how to do that please click here:
http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=11089 :
Using an unsupported internet browser will also produce this error. Make sure that you are using Internet Explorer 6. Other browsers such as Mozilla, Opera and Internet Explorer 7 beta will not run correctly
If ending your background tasks is unsuccessful and you have an NVIDA 4 Motherboard this could be because of an onboard firewall with your motherboard. To check the firewall:
Start the task manager again by holding down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time.
Click on the Processes tab.
Then click on the gray bar that says Image Name, this will sort the processes by user name.
Finally look to close 5 processes down and they are:
apache.exe
ntrayfw.exe
nsvcip.exe
nsvcappflt.exe
and nsvclog.exe.
Don´t worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system.
If you receive a warning for any of these, don´t worry it is a standard warning message and is expected. Please click "yes" and continue.
This error will also occur if you are not using the Windows XP operating system. The minimum requirements on the download page state that the EA Link only supports the Windows XP operating system.
You may receive a Core.exe error if you have an issue with your network connection or do not have a network connection that is supported by EA Link. To troubleshoot your network connection please refer to our knowledge base article found here.
