Teams that could be dealing soon are the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Vancouver Canucks and NY Islanders.
Oilers: Might still be in the market for an experienced starting goalie, although that talk has waned in recent weeks. Also believed seeking a scoring winger for their first line.
Penguins: Defence, defence, defence.
Mighty Ducks: Ducks GM Brian Burke supposedly faxed his peers two weeks ago of Petr Sykora´s availability, plus there´s also been some talk of Ruslan Salei and Sandis Ozolinsh possibly being shopped.
Canucks: The dream dies hard for those Canucks fans desperately hoping - or willing to believe - their club will land Roberto Luongo. Amid talk of trading Todd Bertuzzi, Ed Jovanovski and Dan Cloutier, reality is the Canucks are limited in what moves they can make because of their salary cap. Fischler suggested last week Brendan Morrison might be moved. GM Dave Nonis, however, claims he´s had no trade talks with anyone and doesn´t plan on doing so.
Islanders: Mike Milbury might move defenceman Janne Niinimaa if he can swing it. Reality suggests, however, that may not be easy, as it is noted in a recent Foxsports.com column
