Good morning, today I am going to present my dream study project and the profession I would like to work in later, firstly I will present the studies I want to do, with the outline I have brought you, then I will quickly present the profession I would like to work in and finally, in the last part I will tell you about my desire to go to a European country within the framework of the ERASMUS programme.
At the end of my 3 years of high school, I want to join the famous university located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris: Descartes. I would like to study medicine there. In France, at the end of the first year of medicine, there is a competition called the many clauses, a name that comes from Latin and means "closed number". This means that there is a limited number of students admitted, and it is very selective, only about 15% enter second year. The first year is known to be very difficult, and it's voluntary! Young students who are starting out in academia are asked to do a lot of work with a lot of stress in order to continue the course, to eliminate the weakest among them. After the first year, there are two calmer years, to validate the license, the DFG SM 2 and 3. The 4th, 5th and 6th year is called the external. You start to take responsibility, there are a lot of internships but also a lot of lessons in the amphitheater because there is a national competition at the end of the 6th year. This competition determines the place where you will spend the last years, called boarding school, and the specialty you can choose. This competition is very important to me, and that is why I aim for the best possible medical school because the specialty I want to choose has few places available. I would like to choose the cancer specialty in Paris to stay close to my parents. At the end of my 5-year internship, I would like to train to become a pediatric oncologist, because you have to train to work with children, it's very different from adults.
Since I was 10 years old, I've wanted to be a doctor, I can't explain why, in reality, there are several reasons for this choice: firstly, my mother has always wanted to have a son who is a doctor because it is very well regarded in my country of origin, I would like to please him, moreover, more personally, it is a noble profession and appreciated in my religion, finally, the salary of a doctor is comfortable, and I would like to offer my family a life too, even more comfortable than the one my parents offered me. The profession of cancerology consists in following and treating cancer patients, but above all in accompanying them and their families. My two aunts have had cancer and I know what it means to have a loved one suffering from a serious illness.
But I would like to be an oncologist for children because I love children very much, and I would be more comfortable with them than with adults. In my last year of middle school I did an internship in a paediatric practice and I enjoyed it very much. I would especially like to do humanitarian work in countries like Senegal, Algeria, Morocco and Yemen. These are very poor countries that need care, and above all, they are my brothers. I like living in France, but I think it would be selfish to stay here just because I can live comfortably, while my people need me.
I would like, if it is possible, in my third year to go to Turkey, to study for a year in the framework of the ERASMUS programme. Furthermore, I really like the Turkish culture, which is very close to my culture because Turkey colonized Algeria, my country of origin. 3 years ago, I visited Istanbul and I liked it very much, I would like to go back there. In fact, I would have liked to go to England because it is very prestigious, but unfortunately they are no longer part of the European Union. Thank you for your attention.
