Hello,
I am Louern, a barbaric and sadistic player who fell in love with For Honor. I have recently been honored with the title of Ubisoft Starplayer to represent the For Honor game.
I am enthralled by For Honor which affected me as much in its gameplay as in its scenario. However, many of us today believe this game no longer meets our expectations, the game feels deserted and we have the feeling to not be listened. Our only desire is to continue playing this epic battle game for years!
That is why I allow myself to create this request today. I do not aim to ask an ultimatum or to criticize Ubisoft. I would like to show we are many fascinated players who lost the desire to play For Honor as it is now. We are however eager to continue the adventure.
Here is a small summary (taken from the official French forum) of what feels wrong :
- The lack of communication from Ubisoft: events, updates, proposals and others ... we are almost always the last to know (despite some recent effort, thank you Ubi-WhiteRoom). We do not know if our proposals are held at bay or not and whether they interest the game development team.
- The lack of balancing: whether in pure gameplay with the parry system and the turtle meta or that it is at the level of the characters (centurion & shaman for example), there is a huge gap between the players. We are many to drop the controller when we face opponents with characters who do not make sense. Fights no longer offer the same experience we felt at the release of the game. We do not understand why so many interesting vanilla characters seem to be cast off for the benefit of new characters who are far too favored.
- Game modes: why is there so little imagination? You made us dream about the solo game mode. All of us expected more modes, such as « attack the castle », « protect a ram », « tactical advance », etc. Instead of all of these ideas, you went on different kinds of ranked games. Of course, e-sports is trendy, but competitive players are not the only customers of the game. You made a first step with the tribute mode which remains nice to play despite its rudimentary side. We would like more communication from you about modes like « attack the castle », « battle royal », « capture the flag », « king of the hill », « survival »… Can they be considered ?
- The faction war: it was a great idea but it's a complete failure. This system had a lot of potential but it quickly felt useless. Nobody has the feeling of belonging to a faction. It’s a pity because I AM A VIKING! I loot, I ransack and I fight for Loki but my teammates play wardens, lawbringers, kensei… And opponents who are part of the viking faction can play all kind of characters. Where is the interest of a faction war if there is no real immersion in the game?
- The solo scenario did not evolve: I would like to meet the one, or those, who had the idea of For Honor because it was a GREAT SCENARIO !!! For once we can met a nasty badass vilain like Apollyon !!!! Honestly it was amazing and then... nothing. No scripted cinematic to explain the arrival of new characters, no continuation of the basic scenario... not even some evolution through the faction war... big mistake! This is not a fighting or shooting game as you see everywhere, you chose a medieval world and that is one of the things that made you so popular. However for many we are, at the professional or amateur level, interrested about stories. All this people, who is not a lesser part of your customers, felt neglected.
- Pro vs. Casual: We also feel that your game is only going to the competitive / tournament audience but we know that at least 50% (if not more) of your player base is made of casual or frequent non-pro players. Why would you lose so much of your audience by developing only the ranked aspects of the game? Especially for a game where there is so much imbalance felt between the characters ? Casuals and cooperative players / PVE are here and they can be faithful players to the game if we give them the means.
- And the rest: bugs, shop, monetary system, impossibility to create clans, lack of stability of the game, lack of goodies... We know you do your best do improve some aspects... for others there is no communication.
In short, the goal is to ask a change in some points. With this request, WE players, show you that many of us wish to see the possibility of being able to really collaborate / exchange with your teams for the good of the community and the future of For Honor.
No taunts, no boycott, no insults, no demo... That request is a call for dialogue, listening and constructive exchange. Ubisoft, would you listen to your community?
Finally, I thanks Ubisoft for creating For Honor and for giving me the opportunity to become a representative of this game. I hope this will allow me to show that the community of For Honor is great. The community is full of good will are ready to follow you in the adventure!
Thanks to all those who read to this point and to those who will sign to make For Honor evolve!
See you on the battlefield!
