According to Chris Pratt, Taika Waititi added Thor's goats in Love and Thunder to see what James Gunn is gonna do with them in the next Guardians Project - "[Waititi] just wanted to stick James with some goats. James has to pick up where Taika left off, and he stuck us with some space goats."

Thor: Love and Thunder Plot
With the red carpet a few days back the plot for Thor: Love and Thunder has leaked to the interwebs. Our trusted sources have shared with us some info we would like to pass on to you. Note, do not continue reading if you don't want to be spoiled! You have been warned. As always, take everything with a grain of salt.
-Movie starts with Korg telling the story of Thor, which includes a workout montage, small comedic sex scene, fight scenes with the Guardians, and more.
-At the beginning of the film the Guardians are jokingly trying to get rid of Thor.
-Jane Foster has cancer, and Darcy Lewis is there in a small role. So is Erik Selvig, but he attends on a computer screen. They are trying to find a cure for her.
-She goes to New Asgard, and the hammer Mjölnir “senses” her and gives her Thors power. The power makes her cancer worse, but Jane knows she’s dying anyways.
-Gorr has a family that died, and blames the gods. His story is tied to a god named Eternity, which we are told looked incredibly comic accurate. Gorr finds a sword that can kill gods and give him extra powers, and starts to do so.
-Thor, Korg, Valkyrie, and Jane go to a god city, and see Zeus. Zeus is evil and tries to kill them. Thor injuries (but doesn’t kill) Zeus. At some point in this sequence, there’s a huge crowd of gods from around the universe, including a Kronan god (Korg's god), and most memorably a god with only a head and legs.
-Thor realizes that Jane has cancer, and wants her to stop, but Jane wants to help. This is a really emotional scene.
-The team then fights Gorr, and Jane sacrifices herself to stop Gorr. Somehow Gorr’s daughter comes back (a young actress), and Jane is dead.
-End of movie also included Korg having a kid with another Korg with a mustache. Korg is gay btw, since all Kroans are male (as depicted in the comics).
-First Post Credit Scene is the Hercules one. Zeus sends Hercules (presumably Goldstein) to kill Thor (who is with Gorr’s daughter now). Hercules is wearing basically nothing, and has only one line. This scene is setting up a sequel of some sort.
-Second scene is Heimdall in a white and gray robe welcoming Jane to Valhalla.
Other things to note:
-Heimdall has a son with powers who summons Thor to Earth.
-There is a girl who fights monsters with a plushy rabbit.
-There’s another play sequence, like the one in Ragnarok. It involves Hela breaking Thor’s hammer.
-The Warriors 3 are referenced
