Un petit topic pour ce groupe de new wave / synthpop (pour une grande majorité des albums) canadien.
Ils se sont formés en 1977 et sont originaires de Montréal. Leur leader est Ivan Doroschuk, seul membre présent depuis le début, et fondateur du groupe avec le guitariste Pete Seabrooke, le bassiste Dave Hill et le batteur John Gurrin, Men Without Hats était à l'époque un groupe de punk rock.
Les frères d'Ivan, Stefan et Colin, arrivent en 1979 et ont participé à quelques albums, surtout Stefan qui est présent sur tous les albums sauf le dernier en date, Love in the Age of War.
Après une première séparation en 1993, ils sont revenus en 2002, avant de se séparer à nouveau l'année suivante, puis de revenir une nouvelle fois en 2010 avec une nouvelle composition, sans Stefan et Colin.
À l'heure actuelle, Men Without Hats a sorti sept albums studio :
