New Features So Far
This section is going to be filled with all the new features that Smackdown! Vs. RAW will contain. Once we learn more about the game, we´ll be adding lots of different sections to the information page ( like the DOR one). But for now, here´s the list.
» New Grapple Types
You can now grapple while down on the mat. You can also pick up your opponents so that they´re still bent over, leading into a whole new set of moves.
» Counter Difficulties
Each grapple state has it´s own counter difficulty. It´s been said that Quick and Signature grapples will be harder to counter than Submission and Power grapples.
» Chop Battle
Chops are one of the most used things in todays and yesterdays wrestling, and THQ has picked up on this. SDvR has initiated a ´Chop Battle´ grapple system, in which players exchange knife-edge chops to one another in a mini-game-esque fasion. You have to time your chops correctly to get maximum damage, pulling off three perfect chops could find your opponent hitting the mat.
» Face and Heel Specials
Before starting a match-up, players can choose whether or not they´ll take on the the role of a face or heel. Depending on which you choose, depends what sort of reversals and special abilities you can pull off during the match. Choosing either Face or Heel gives you the corresponding hud meter which fills up when doing certain things. Once the meter is filled and you tilt the right analogue button, it allows Faces to become invincible for a short amount of time ( much like Hulk Hogan´s " Hulking Up") and allow heels to pull off " dirty" moves that the ref won´t see, such as low blows, eye rakes or getting out the brass-knucks.
» Joint Locks
Submissions have been revamped to give off a much more realistic feel. Once a submission is applied, a time-based meter will appear, giving the person in the hold a chance to either reverse the submission move, or kick their way out of it. And at last, anyone can break up submissions rather than just the person applying the hold.
» Charisma
Each superstar has now been given a Charisma attribute. The higher this stat is, the more adrenaline you get when taunting your opponent. The Face and Heel meters will also fill up faster.
» Interactive Match Beginnings
Every wrestling game seems to be the same, you come down to the ring during your entrance, the bell sounds and you start to fight. Well SDvR has now included a mini-game before the bell rings as a sort of " Test Of Strength" which finds players trying to hit the right buttons at the right time to pull off a quick beatdown before the bell rings. The person who wins this sub-game will start with more adrenaline in the Smackdown! meter and the person who lost will be slightly weaker.
» Heel Boost
This is where the Heels get to have more fun. If you think the ref took too long to count the 1, 2, 3 and your opponent kicks out, do all you can to argue with him. The referee might have told you to break your submission hold, but you might not want to, so keep it held in for a little longer. While doing this is risky and could cause an automatic DQ, it will benefit the superstar by boosting his/her Heel Meter.
» Belt Shots
If you´re having a match where one of the people involved is a title holder, the belt will be available at ringside to use as a weapon. Don´t let the ref catch you using it, though, unless you want to be disqualified.
» Improved Weight Detection
Weight detection will now be included when pulling off a finishing move. For example, you won´t see Victoria lifting up Big Show for the Window´s Peak just because it´s her special move, as he´s too heavy.
» Mode Tweaks
Lots of the matches featured in the previous Smackdown! games have been updated and refreshed. For example, the Royal Rumble now has all-new throwing/elimination mechanics.
» Manager ( distr)Action
Like the Legends Of Wrestling series, having a manager actually gives you a noticeable upper hand. Your manager will climb the apron to distract the ref and even pull the official out of the ring if you´re getting pinned just to aid you to victory. Having your manager pull out the referee will add to your Heel Meter.
» Voice Overs
All of the athletes in this game will have the voices from their real life counterparts. How much they talk, though, we do not know. Commentary has once again been added, but totally re-done and, apparently, will not repeat itself.
» Online?
Beta-Testing is now being held to see if online play will be in SDvR or not. It will only be included if it´s worth it, bug-free and most importantly, fun.
» Create a PPV ( CAPPV)
This feature has only ever been in one Smackdown! game, and that was the very first one. It´s a mode that people have longed for since it was ( inexplainably) taken out, and it makes a very welcomed return in SDvR. This mode allows you to create your own Pay Per View ( PPV) and have any matches/title defenses you wish. Title holders will not be linked to the Season Mode.
» Create a Belt ( CAB)
When you make money in Season Mode, you can opt to spend it on designing youself a belt which can be obtained/defended in the Create a PPV mode.
» Challenge Mode
This feature allows you to play through a series of matches with set requirements which you must meet in order to win. For example, you might have to use two finishers before you can pin your opponent or be forced to defeat four Legends in a row. Completing these challenges earns you more money.

» Parking Lot Brawl ( PLB)
The PLB is pretty much just what it sounds like; a specialty match that takes place in the parking lot. While in this match, players will be able to interact with and destroy just about everything in the environment -- be it cars, trucks, limos, or whatever else happens to be hanging around. The level of destructibility of these objects is still being determined, but Product Manager Devin Knudsen did confirm that doors, hoods, and other similar pieces can all be smashed up how you wish.
