Les impressions d´un gars qui a la démo, c´est maintenant sûr : la démo est dispo aux states ( donc pleins de Quebecquois vont venir nous narguer

" Hello Eveyone!
Long story short - I currently have a copy of the Forza Motorsport demo in my bedroom sitting inside of my XBOX! I still cannot believe it!
I´m going to strip away all of my Forza Fanboyism to give you a true impression of the game. That´s the way I would like to read an impression if someone else was writing it.
First impression of the graphics: Very good. Not entirely unlike PGR2, but the actual paint jobs on the cars is a lot brighter. I´ve read that the paintjobs are " too bright". I personally don´t think so. The cars appear to be freshly waxed on a bright summer day. The track is VERY well done. The gravel looks real and the game features the best rendition of Laguna Seca available, which you all already knew from all of the movies.
I´m going to try to answer some questions that I´ve read about the demo. You all know that it´s Laguna Seca with 12 cars, but someone asked how the modification works in the demo. The answer is that only the 350z, Impreza, and NSX can be modified in the demo and all of those mods that you saw in the videos are just " scripts" that run. In other words, you have no control over how the car gets modded. You just select " yes" when it asks " Would you like to modify this car?" and it basically just does what you see in the videos. I had a lot of fun running an unmodded 350z to get the fastest time I could, and then doing it again with the modded version. DEFINITE difference!
I´ve heard several people say " When are these journalists going to learn to drive?" and " I haven´t seen one person hit a proper apex yet!!" You know why? The game is CHALLENGING! This is coming from someone that thinks he´s pretty good at racing games and yes, I was able to come in first eventually, but I had to work at it! Which is good! The first race I ran was with the Corvette C6. I was going against the Porsche GT3, 360 Modena and the Viper. I had to do that race several times before I pulled off a victory! AND THIS WAS WITH ALL OF THE ASSISTS ON!!
The physics are nice and realistic. The controller rumbles a bit as the tires start to loose grip in the turns. I have to play PGR2 again, but I *think* that I got slightly more controller feedback overall on the race courses in PGR2. Even in the straightaways.
One thing I like - You can not only look left, right, and rear using the right thumbstick, but you can actually pan slightly or fully in any direction by pushing the thumbstick out to the perimeter, and then move it in the desired direction. FULL 360 degree viewing! I´ve always wanted this in a racing game and now I have it!
One thing I don´t like - I always race in first person view ( high) to simulate the view I would have from the driver´s seat. From what I´ve seen so far, the view doesn´t seem to be high enough. It´s a bit higher than PGR2, but needs to be a bit higher. Also, when in that view, collision detection kicks in WAY later than I´d like it too. For example, when playing Gran Turismo 3, if I make contact with the back of a car that´s in front of me, the contact happens at a distance that makes me feel like my car has a hood. In Forza ( and PGR2 also), there´s no contact until what feels like my face is making contact with the car in front. It just pulls me out of the racing fantasy.
One thing I didn´t know - Those of you that are awaiting the arrival of this game as much as I am know all there is to know about the demo and what´s on it. One thing I never noticed on the insturment panel from screen shots and movies is a little icon that looks like a little verticle line with an arrow pointing up and down. This illuminates whenever I´m close enough to a car to receive their draft. Does anyone know if this is a real world indicator in any race cars? I´ve never seen it and was surprised to see it when I was playing today.
Anyway, I´ve rambled on enough. If anyone has any questions about the demo that you´d like answered, feel free to ask me! I guess I´ll get the first question out of the way right now. This is the short version of the story. I went to my local Game Rush store and asked them if I could borrow the demo that they had playing in the kiosk. They had a second copy of the demo disk so they gave it to me. Hard to believe, I know... "
