Daniel van Buyten´s agent has confirmed that Manchester City have expressed an interest in the Marseille defender, but added that any deal looked unlikely to be concluded before the close of the transfer window.
City are keen on signing the imposing defender to help bolster their leaking rearguard and are reported to be ready to offer David Sommeil in part exchange for van Buyten.

Van Buyten is one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe and has attracted the interest of the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle, Bayern Munich and Juventus in the past.

The 26-year-old´s representative Christophe Henrotay revealed to skysports.com that City boss Kevin Keegan has enquired about van Buyten, although said a move to The City of Manchester Stadium was a long way off.

" I know of their interest as I have spoken to Mr Keegan about Daniel and he confirmed to me his interest," Henrotay told skysports.com.

" Daniel knows of their interest, but all would depend on whether or not an agreement could be reached with Marseille and there is nothing close at the moment.

" Daniel feels pleased by the interest from a great club from a big country and we will wait and see if a deal is agreed.

" At the minute he is a Marseille player, but if they want to sell him things could become different.

" I have spoken to a Marseille director about the interest, but I think it is difficult to do a deal and until there is a final agreement there is no point in rushing into anything.

" A move would be difficult as there is only two days or so left of the transfer window, but it is possible there might be something prepared for the summer."

Keegan himself has admitted that any dealings in or out before the close of the window look unlikely.

" There is nothing to report at the moment. There is always a slight chance that something will happen. I wouldn’t give up hope but there is nothing definite," Keegan told the club´s official website.

" I believe they are now going to keep the window open until Monday morning as Sunday is the last scheduled day and it is difficult to get people on a Sunday.

" I think if things get that late and desperate then there is a way round it."

Keegan also revealed that he had received an enquiry from an unnamed club for a younger member of his squad.

" We have only had one enquiry for a player at this club at the moment and it is not interesting for us," added Keegan.

" It is one of our younger players. There is no fee involved so I have told the other club no and the player knows about it.

" It is very quiet for us and I am not surprised, as I have been saying that all along that it would be."

Cet article nous apprends qu´un transfert en janvier est improbable, mais que keegan est très très chaud pour avoir DVB, il a contacté son agent.
