Manchester City have emerged as potential suitors for Marseille striker Mido.
The Egyptian international seems set to move on from Marseille in the summer, possibly in a loan deal, and a host of clubs have been linked with the powerful forward.
Newcastle United have been ruled out of the running after Sir Bobby Robson failed to assure the striker he would be a regular starter, which appeared to leave the path clear for Southampton and Fulham to fight it out for his signature.
Mido said last week that he would speak with Fulham and Southampton, but he has now been quoted in the Egyptian press as saying he will hold talks with Kevin Keegan´s City.
" I will be in England today and will meet with Kevin Keegan to discuss the financial terms of the transfer," Mido told the Egyptian paper Messa via egyptianplayers.com.
" Joining Manchester City is a big move for me. I knew about the deal between OM and Manchester City from Marseille officials, but I still have no idea about the transfer details. I will know about the details once I arrive to Manchester.
" I am now fully fit after injury. If I signed for Manchester City, I will start preparations with the English side right away.
" I am really delighted to play in the English Premiership and will be even more delighted to play alongside Anelka and McManaman."
Keegan is having to work on a shoestring budget and it could be that he will attempt to engineer a loan deal with Marseille, which would allow him to partner Mido with Nicolas Anelka in a front line which is sure to set pulses racing at Eastlands.
