Atletico Madrid have told skysports.com that they have no intention of selling Fernando Torres after reports that Manchester United had made him a transfer priority.
At the age of just 19, Torres has rapidly developed into one of the most talked-about, and sought-after, strikers in Europe.
Already a Spanish international, the powerful hit-man is enjoying an excellent campaign with Atletico and has 13 goals to his name.
Reports last weekend suggested that Old Trafford supremo Sir Alex Ferguson had identified Torres, along with Barcelona stopper Carles Puyol, as his top transfer targets this summer.
It is not the first time a Premiership side has been linked with the teenager as Chelsea were also rumoured to be following his progress.
However, Atletico have now come out to dismiss suggestions that they would consider selling the striker, and insist they have received no offers for Torres from England.
" Fernando Torres is not for sale," the club´s technical director Toni Munoz told skysports.com.
" He is a key player in our plans here and we are not prepared to let him leave.
" If we did not sell him during our most difficult financial period we are not going to do it now.
" We have not received any official offer from an English club for Torres.
" Yes, there were bids from other clubs before, but we rejected them.
" At this moment we just want to focus on the league, and fight for a European place for next season."
Torres, a self-confessed Atletico fan, refused to discuss the latest round of speculation, but admitted he was getting bored of the almost constant whispers surrounding his future.
" I am getting fed up of these rumours that come out in the press every month," he stated.
