"Every home game machine in history has married a controller, to a console and that console to a tv. In the next generation, the addition of the internet will be important to all consoles, and particularly important to nintendo. Wifi capability will be built into every Nintendo revolution how these 4 elements, controller, console, tv and internet interact with eachother forms the central difference in revolution design. Our goal in customizing these connections is to develope a device which is functional and appealing to every member of a household." -Satoru Iwata
"Retro gaming? (laughs) Consoles will reach a barrier in the next generation, in a few months. The future might be games with multiple possibilities and unlimited data via the Internet. If we don´t limit the number of gigabytes of a game, using the Internet which has no theoretical limit, why not imagine a virtual universe where all players sould cross paths? Games are still young compared to cinema. But revolutions only happen every 20 years I suppose! (laughs again)" -Myamoto
Idem
"I think maybe if I could do anything, I would make it so you don´t have to sit in front of a TV and play. If you could have a machine that you just plugged in and played inside a virtual world that - would be just great." -Miyamoto
Virtual world?
"What we are telling people right now is that four players can play on the Revolution, but what this means exactly we will unveil at a later time. We ll have more information soon to come on this topic." -Perrin Kaplan
"It´s convenient to make games that are played on TVs," Miyamoto is quoted as saying. "But I always wanted to have a custom-sized screen that wasn´t the typical four-cornered cathode-ray-tube TV. I´ve always thought that games would eventually break free of the confines of a TV screen to fill an entire room. But I would rather not say anything more about that." -Miyamoto
"The advances in our technology will also relate to areas that have no direct baring on gameplay." -Satoru Iwata
"The Revolution may embody a new platform beyond a portable or console, which makes possible a new structure in the network gaming system, changing the ways communities are built and supported. This is the kind of direction we’ve envisioned, and we will challenge ourselves to provide immersive interactive content in response to what Nintendo offers.” -Yoichi Wada (Square Enix President)
Network? Communities?
