A Nintendo-run American hotline had leaked the launch date for the Revolution, at least in the US. Details inside.
The hotline in question is the Nintendo Power Hotline, run by Nintendo of America, Inc. This message was played on the hotline:
"As the company with the strongest heritage of innovation, Nintendo moves the bar for all next gen systems by employing a wide-ranging strategy that will attract more kinds of gamers to more kinds of games. When Nintendo´s new console, codenamed Revolution, arrives in the latter half of 2006, everyone will discover the meaning of all-access gaming.”
This could mean many things for launches in other territories. It could mean that the console would launch in Spring 2006 in Japan, or that Japan would receive a launch AFTER America, as was the case with the Nintendo DS. Whatever the case, it´s reasonable to assume Europe and Autralia will not see the Revolution until at least a few months after America and Japan.
Here´s what the next-gen console launch schedule´s looking like in the US:
-November 2005: Xbox 360
-Spring (March?) 2006: PlayStation 3
-Q3-Q4 2006: Revolution
This means that, as with the previous generation, the Nintendo console would be coming out last. However, this hasn´t been confirmed in an actual press release, so we´ll have to wait for concrete official word on worldwide release dates before judgements are made.
