Atari Unleashes Godzilla on the Wii
The Big G makes his long awaited return to the gaming scene.
January 31st, 2007 (1:11am) - On the GameCube, Pipeworks Software’s Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee made quite the splash as it became a cult favorite party brawler on the console. While the game was later ported to the Xbox, and then given the sequel treatment on the PS2 and Xbox with Godzilla: Save the Earth, fans of Nintendo’s game platforms have been aching for a sequel treatment for quite awhile. Well, Wii owners and G-Fans rejoice! A sequel is in the making and it’s being built ground-up for the Wii in Godzilla: Unleashed.
As expected, Godzilla: Unleashed with utilize the Wii’s unique control method as it uses the nun-chuck control setup to deliver greater control over these giant monsters. Additionally, Unleashed will also attempt to take advantage of the Wii’s technical capabilities (which is something most third-party games have failed to do) with fully destructible environments and will even utilize some undisclosed WiiConnect24 features for some possible online play, like that featured in the previous game.
Godzilla: Unleashed is scheduled for a released in Q3 2007 and will also see a portable release for the PSP and Nintendo DS.
