"Calling all gamers, With the XBOX 360 along came A new way of realasing game content to an already paying user base, paying one sum for the use of the XBOX live service is one thing but many people like myself are beginning to feel the pinch so to speak with the outlandish new marketing tactic of DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT over the live service, sometimes offering nothing more than a patch to fix game issues but also companies are now using what I would call FORCEWARE, software updates that you will need to continue your gameing experiance. Understandably the software does benefit all round by this wayof Downloading extra content yet leaves us feeling duped in the first instance after purchase only to feel obliged to download the latest update at cost in order to play the way others who have no qualms about extra fees for content find easier to do than those who have a sense of what money is worth. Some or most of the content is cheap you say...OK but free is even cheaper, we as gamers should not fall into this and begin to ask the question why should we have to continue paying for something we have already bought in full in the first place (or so were lead to believe) Like many others I can afford the cost of a few maps and content etc etc but then again IM not a 9 year old kid having to do chores to earn enough pocket money to go out and buy extra content, that said I also don´t think that just because you can afford it that it makes it right in the first place. If i wanted to get extra content and pay for it I would be calling myself a games developer because IM simply putting cash into the said company and expecting nothing in return but some data that is passed to thousands of respective customers, some places would call that an investment with no return. The software houses charching this EXTORTIONATE fee no matter what the fee I call it extortion. Do they not make enough cash out of the gamer on software sales that they have to find another worm hole to suck up our hard earned cash? We pay for a live service we then pay for extra content with many games and its going to get out of hand because people are so ready to pay up offsetting the charges against how good Microsoft is to its customer base by giving out free hardware patches(the hardware problems should not be happening in the first place so should not be paid for anyway) Microsoft could pay the individual software houses and let us continue our freedom of downloadble content free to gold members at least."
