" The first indication of what Microsoft´s price and delivery strategy for Europe appears to have been unveiled on online e-tailer Play.com.
In the first online product listing for the Xbox360, Play.com states that the unit will set you back a quite staggering £399 and be available from November 29 of this year.
Listen closely and out in the ether and you´ll hear the sound of Microsoft execs stampeding to have this listing ripped down.
Is this by any means a serious indication of Microsoft´s pricing and deployment strategy?
Well yes and no, or rather no and yes. No because a price point of £399 is way way too high, given J Allard´s recent comments that Xbox360 would be in the " neighbourhood of 0" and nearly £400 would be an almost suicidal price to launch the next generation war against Sony. ´Yes´ because we´re expecting Xbox360 before the end of the year, and while a little late, Nov 29 is just about within the expected range.
A word of caution, though, it´s not shall we say unknown for online retailers to ahem how shall we put this, slap up an early listing to encourage pre-orders. This one however should be taken with not so much a pinch of salt but more like a mountain of sodium."
