Thank you for your support of Operation Christmas Child in 2005. Thanks to you and thousands of people like you we have been able to put smiles on the faces of 1.15 million children in 14 countries across the world.

Children like Luba who I met in an orphanage just outside Kiev, Ukraine at the beginning of December. Luba literally has nothing, having been abandoned by her mum and dad. The look on her face as she unpacked her box will stay with me for a long time. Her eyes sparkled as she realized that everything there was for her!
As Christmas now approaches, please remember children like Luba who are living every day with poverty, disease or in disaster situations.
Disasters such as the South Asia earthquake.
On 8 October an earthquake devastated northern Pakistan and India, killing as many as 100,000 people and leaving more than 3.5 million homeless at the start of winter.
One element of Samaritan´s Purse´s work in Pakistan is the Shelter Programme. Winter is approaching and temperatures are expected to fall as low as -15˚C. The race is on to make sure aid reaches people trapped without food and shelter before bad weather conditions make mountain roads inaccessible.
Samaritan´s Purse is focusing on an area in northern Pakistan called, the Allai Valley where an estimated 175,000 inhabitants need emergency assistance. Our current focus is on providing substantial shelter. When spring arrives more permanent housing will have to be constructed. Samaritan´s Purse plans to be involved in this process.
