During the cutscenes where the game reveals certain aspects of the storyline, the characters are as finely detailed as can be imagined. You see clearly the facial expressions, body language, and even detailed skin blemishes. It is not quite as good as the computer generated movie "Final Fantasy" but it comes close. You will see some very disturbing images during these cutscenes and if you have young children, do not let them watch unless you want them to be too scared to sleep in their own bed!
Graphics: 9.1
Lighting, shadows and mutated dogs, oh my! Seriously, this game has put the graphical "emotion" back into the Emotion Engine (the graphic processor powering PS2, remember?). Four words can be used to sum up this game´s beauty: real-time movie sequences.
Now, if SH3 had been developed in 1997, we would have had to go and get the blue key, then use it to open a broom closet, get a bucket, stand on the bucket, put on a pair of high heels, jump up and down on the spot and then hopefully break our necks.
Another positive is the amazing visuals on display, definitely an example of the pinnacle of VFX, and at some points approaching the polygonal complexity of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, which is no mean feat considering the hardware used to produce said movie; also, all the cutscenes are rendered ingame, instead of being separate CGI sequences.
Silent Hill 3 features some fantastic graphics! The dark chilling atmosphere is portrayed beautifully with clean sharp textures and lighting effects. Character animation has also been superbly created, the monsters within the game don’t just wonder around like brain dead zombies as they do in most ‘horror’ games, they actually move in a distinct and intelligent fashion, also the various dog-like monsters lunge at you like real dogs and the actions of everything ‘living’ (or not!) in the game are smoothly done. One of the most impressive characters in the game is the main character, Heather. In most games the ‘hero’ of the game will look like a super model whether they be male or female and usually this takes an element of realism from the game. Heather on the other hand actually looks, acts and behaves like a real human being from the way she looks at objects as she passes them to her facial expressions I feel that Silent Hill 3 has one of the most realistic main characters I’ve even seen in a video game.
Cutscenes within the game also deserve a mention, Silent Hill 3 is already backed up by a solid and engrossing storyline yet the cut scenes improve on this and will have players glued to the edge of their seats as if they were watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster! This coming from a person who is notorious for skipping cut scenes no matter how important they happen to be in the game is a real honour

c plutot normal
