"PS3 Software – Metal Gear Solid 4 was the big release for this week. It is also unquestionably the top debut for a PS3 game to date. The preliminary data for the game is somewhat strange though, as it refers to the ‘Limited Editions’ sales and then regular edition sales without breaking down whether or not the plural on Limited Edition includes software bundled with hardware. Because of the reported shipment information, I’ve interpreted the break down* of Metal Gear Solid 4 as something like ~245k normal game price/215k other packages (with somewhere between 20-30% of these packages including PS3 hardware). Even with that ambiguity in mind, the game still sold better as a stand alone package than as a pack in, despite the strangeness in how the breakdown is presented. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit also was in the preliminary data, selling another 10,000 units. Expect PS3 hardware sales to get a big boost this week, to 45,000 to 70,000 units, putting it above Wii in Japan for the first time in over half a year."
