Kojima ( okay j´arrête les jokes à 2 balles)

Sony used two games to show off the PlayStation 3 hardware at the PlayStation Meeting earlier today in Tokyo. The company brought out representatives of Bandai to play Mobile Suit Gundam for the PS3, a demonstration that we shared with you earlier. Following the Gundam demonstration was a demonstration involving KOEI´s Ni-Oh.

The company´s talkative president Keiko Erikawa first took the stage and went on and on for many minutes about things that weren´t particularly pertinent. She then shared a new trailer for Ni-Oh, which ran on actual PS3 hardware. Unfortunately, Erikawa didn´t state what she meant by " actual" PS3 hardware. The Gundam demonstration was also done on PS3 hardware but only used a few features of the system.

Following the trailer, Erikawa had one of the game´s development team members ( who´d apparently gotten only an hour of sleep the night before) take hold of the controller. Similar to Epic´s E3 demonstration of the Unreal 3 engine, the interaction with the Ni-Oh demo consisted of pausing the trailer clip and moving the camera around. This allowed Erikawa to comment on many of the game´s features, including the realistic lighting effects and the detailed character models.

The new demo of Ni-Oh looked very much like a game, in contrast to the E3 demonstration clip, which was obviously CG. That said, Ni-Oh still sports some impressive visuals, making use of characters models that feature 150,000 polygons. Massive detail is afforded not just to the primary character, but to the enemies that appear in the trailer as well. We´ve uploaded the trailer both in interactive and uninterrupted forms.

Erikawa promises that we´ll get a closer look at Ni-oh at TGS. This includes first details on what she promises will be an amazing gameplay system.
