Je possède une MSI k7t turbo 1, avec un duron 700, que j´aimerais remplacer par un athlon XP 1600+ ou 1700+. Seulement, je ne connais absolument rien à la procedure de flash de bios, et g bien peur de faire une connerie en essayant de le faire : /
Qqn aurait-il la gentillesse de me detailler la procédure pour un novice comme moi ?

Y´a rien de plus simple, ça se fait automatiquement. Généralement tu télécharges le Bios sur le site du constructeur. Il te faut au moins deux disquettes. Sur la première il te sauvegarde ton bios actuel en cas de merde, et sur la deuxième il te copie le nouveau bios. Ensuite tu redémarre le PC avec cette disquette dans le lecteur. Il démarre dessus, te demande si tu veux flasher ton bios, tu réponds oui et c bon ! : -)
ca depend des cartes meres car moi il ne m a pas demandé de sauvegardé mon bios en cas de probleme, c est irreversible, faut juste faire attention aux coupures de courant, car s y ca foire...
Je suis on ne peut plus dans le même cas que toi Arting.
J´ai une MSI KT7 Turbo, avec duron650 et j´aimerai mettre un AthlonXP.
En fait j´ai pas encore flasher (mais je le ferai un jour ou l´autre . .. lol) mais MSI propose sur son site en download un petit prog qui fait tout (MSI Live update je crois qu´il s´appelle) pour te faciliter le flashage.
Voilà.
Pour rappel, au max avec les MAJ du BIOS, tu peux mettre un AthlonXP2000+ sur la carte mère que tu possèdes, et AthlonXP2200+ avec la K7T Turbo2.

Award BIOS Flash Procedure

1. Check your BIOS for BIOS FLASH DISABLED and ENABLE it, some boards have this function.
For Example:
K7N420 Pro (MS-6373) – BIOS setup/Integrated Peripherals/BIOS Protect/Disabled
2. Know Your model number
a. Open your case and look for the MS-XXXX number on the motherboard between the PCI slots, also check the version number that is written there as well. (some motherboards are named like K7T Turbo, make sure you have the right version number)
b. Boot up your system & take a look at the top left screen during POST, you should see something like “W6373MS v2.1 122101” This means the board is MS-6373 with BIOS version 2.1
Hint: Many systems are clearing this message very fast, the bios version is then unreadable, you can either press “PAUSE” or disable the “Quick Boot” in the BIOS setup.
3. Download the BIOS that matches your motherboard AND version number (some motherboards are named like K7T Turbo, make sure you have the right version number). BIOS can be found according to the CPU type of your board like if your CPU is Intel P4 478 type then look here

4. Extract the BIOS-archive that you have downloaded by double clicking to c:\test
5. Boot your system from a Win98 or WinME boot-floppy.
How to make boot floppy in case your don’t have it ready:
For Win9X, You can type [C:\ format a:/s] from the DOS prompt.
For WinMe, You can make a boot floppy from control panel--> add/remove program-->make boot floppy. Remove autoexec.bat & config.sys file if there´s any.
For Win2000, there´s no way to make boot floppy, so you have to either use Win9X or WinME boot floppy.
For WinXP, you can make a DOS boot disk. Go to Your Computer, right click drive A:, select Format, select copy system files.
7. When you get the A:\ prompt, type the following sequence:
C: <enter>
cd\test <enter>
C:\test> awdfl783m BIOS file
(to save or not to save old BIOS is the user’s decision)
8. Reboot your system when prompted

4.Extract the file you have downloaded to a floppy (not the win ME/98 startup floppy) by double clocking the file in windows mode and supplying the path a:\
5.Boot the computer using a windows ME or windows 98 startup disk. It must be one of these! A plain boot disk will not be good enogh.
If you do not have Windows ME or 98 to create the floppy you can make one on a friend´s computer.
6.When boot is done there will be a message on the screen showing : "Diagnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive" followed by a single letter.
This letter is the leter assigned to the RAMDRIVE. This RAMDRIVE is a virtual drive in the system memory and can be accessed and controlled like any other drive with DOS commands such as:
MD - Make Directory
Copy - copy a file
Deleate - Deleate a file
There is one important difference which is that being in the system memory this drive is wiped once the computer is restarted or shut down.
7.Replace the startup floppy with the one containing the flash utility and bios ROM files previously extracted in windows.
8.Copy the 2 files to the RAMDRIVE by using the DOS command copy.
Here is an example, in this example the flash utility is AWFL814B.EXE , the ROM file is w6373nms.220 and the RAMDRIVE letter assignment is D
copy awfl814b.exe d:\
copy w6337nms.220 d:\
9.Change the current working directory to the RAMDRIVE root directory, with the example case of the RAMDRIVE being drive D this is done by simply done with the command d:
10.Execute the flash utility with the ROM file as a command line argument, with this example:
awfl814b w6373nms.220
If you wish to save the current bios you must specify the full path a:\filename. Specifying only a file name will save the bios to the RAMDRIVE which will be wiped after restarting the computer and the file will not be saved.
a:\bios.old is an example of the correct way to save the bios.

je suppose que oui sinon tu ne voudrais pas flasher...
hum en fait le mieux dasn ces cas la c d´avoir une gigabyte pour avoir la technique dual bios... héhéhé

ca j´avais compris : ) mais comme justement je ne sais pas trop ce ke je fais, je me suis dit ke je pourrais faire une connerie...
ben puisque tu a une CM MSI...utilise les image disk dispo dans le premier topic du forum MSI-France rubrique "MAJ BIOS"... je les utilise depuis longtemps et j´ai pas encore eu de prob avec....
c´est trop simple en fait tu n´a rien a faire.
Tu flash pas ton bios pour changer de processeur!!!
Deja, ca m´etonnerais que tu puisses faire tourner un 1700+ sur une carte qui en avait un 700!
si c´est possible, (voir notice carte mere)
tu dois juste changer les cavaliers sur la carte mere (selon la taille du processeur que tu veux mettre) et changer les coefficient multiplicateur dans ton bios actuel!..
Si c´est pas possible, il faut que tu
flash e effet ton bios, pour cela, tu change le cavalier de place(celui du bios) ton ordinateur eteint la pile ce charge de tout effacer!
puis tu redemarres avec la disquette(le cavalier remis a ca place surtout) ou tu recharge le bios original avec le cavalier dans une autre position
(tu as toujours ton bios original sauvgarder dans un ep rom que tu ne pourras pas effacer.
piouf....que ça t´etonne ou non,la K7t turbo 1 supporte le AthlonXP 1800+ maxi et il faut imperativement flasher le BIOS pour en profiter.

Je peu meme dire kel supporte un 2000+. Puisque actuellement cé ce que jé monter decu ; )

Coms => bah j´sais pa, moi, jé vraiment pas eu de prob, jé juste eu a faire une mise a jour du BIOS et retiré le jumper qui permettait de debloquer le FSB a 133MHZ et c´est tout.
C´est bien une "turbo 1" que tu as? pas une turbo3 par ex...
mais je te crois tout a fait! seulement je te dis ce que j´ai vu ce matin sur les forum msi-france en cherchant pour "jesaisplusonnom"... lol:-)
peut-être qu´une MAJ plus recente permet le passage au 2000+,tu a quoi comme vesion de bios?
jé une K7t turbo 1 sans RAID (6330 v3.0) avec le dernier bios de MSI cad le 3.5
En faite lorsque jé eu mon 2000+ j´avais la version 3.2 du BIOS et c´est que j´avais kelke prob avec mon proce (mauvaise reconaissence du proce) mais peu de temps apres MSI a sorti leur BIOS 3.4 qui a totalement resolu ce probleme et depuis jé la 3.5.
En fin je vous raconte un peu ma vie la mais bon. ; )
