Back in 1823, President James Monroe established the Monroe doctrine. The Monroe doctrine simply says that the United States will declare war against any European country if they try to occupy any land in the continents of North and South America. It is this doctrine that led later President Theodore Roosevelt to start the Spanish-American War. By the end of the Spanish-American War the United States became a formidable military power. Roosevelt called our Navy "The Great White Fleet". The Great White Fleet brought alot of Patriotism to Americans. At the same time the concept of "Manifest Destiny" was still in the air. supporters of Manifest Destiny believed that the United States deserves to expand to the west coast. So Manifest Destiny, The Great White Fleet, and the Monroe Doctrine made Americans super patriotic and eager. Which is what made us eager to enter WWI, the way WWI was ended (I believe) is what made WWII begin. WWII ended and then the Soviet Union was left with alot of land, Americans didn't like communists then (neither do I) and we did not like the idea of the Soviet Union growing was scary to us (and it still is, I think the Soviets were worse than NAZIs). We Americans saw it as our duty to stop the spread of communism. Trying to ensure that communists could not take over the whole world we set up leaders in the middle east that we now feel the need to get rid of (Saddam Hussein for example). All I just said is the best explanation for the "domino effect" that I can give right now. The U.S. definetely left WWII richer than before but I don't know how much we profitted from the wars which came up later. Our war in Iraq certainly has not been good for our economy, the Dollar is consistently dropping. And actually we aren't making all our war products in the U.S. anymore in fact the Air Force plans to start manufacturing our planes in (are you ready for this) France.
So I don't know how good our current war has been for the economy. But I do think we got involved with alot of wars that we shouldn't have. I don’t want to make any opinions on whether or not the U.S. should be in Iraq because I haven’t been there. Donc il avait oublier de nous préciser ça, pourtant le nouveau président est fan de crier sur les toits qu'il déniche des contrats, les US et la France sont maintenant plus que jamais liés ensemble. Ce n'est que le début, on ira en Iran.

Puis a propos de savoir si la guerre profite à l'économie, Sun Tzu avait bien raison, ça n'arrive jamais si elle dure. Et c'est plutot réputé pour en ce moment.... de durer.
