(1) GameCube - Modification FAQ round up
When the GameCube was released about 3 month ago, nobody (even over here in HK) thought a solution to play import games would be available in such a short time. We all were wrong, thanks to some clever guys in the US who posted their discovery into IGN´s forum.
Since the news about Lik Sang selling premodded GameCubes has conquered the net over night, we are still receiving lots of questions by email from all over the world every day. The following should actually help you to get a feeling what´s going on at the GameCube modification front, what´s possible with it and what´s not.
Question:
Can I modify my GameCube (Japanese or US version) by myself, do you sell the Mod chip?
Answer:
Yes, you can easily modify the GameCube (whether Japanese or US version) by yourself, and you won´t need any mod chip. The GameCube modification simply lets you switch from the Japanese into the US mode (and vice versa) by simply connecting two jumpers on the main board using a simply switch.
Question:
Where do I find the instructions how the GameCube has to be modified?
Answer:
There are many very detailed websites with information about the modification procedure. For a quick overview (which is actually enough to get the modification done in a couple of minutes) look at our previous news post:
